“Excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Can only say hugely positive things about Ascot House. Lovely welcome, beautiful hotel. We were shown to our room ( no. 21 ) and it had fab decor, a huge bay window overlooking a park/ coppice. Comfy bed, modern ensuite. This place is absolutely spotless, the cleaning staff must go over the hotel with a magnifying glass ! Breakfast was the best cooked full English I have had. On our 2 nd night we had the evening meal, and it was truly great. Very enjoyable meal, reasonably priced bottle of wine. Will not hesitate to book again. The location is excellent too. Short walk into Harrogate or the Harrogate International Centre.

Room Tip: Probably all good, but ours was no. 21 and excellent.

Last-minute break at start of half-term and arrived late after horrible drive in torrential rain to be upgraded to turret room. Lovely room, spacious and tastefully decorated with romantic drapes above the king sized bed. I would book it from the start if available. We ate in and the dinner was excellent as was the Yorkshire breakfast the following morning. We were particularly impressed by the friendliness and attention to detail of the staff who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. There was plenty of parking and although we arrived late found a slot to manoeuvre into in the rain. I would describe it as an old-style English hotel done well. I will stay there again when I next visit Harrogate.

Room Tip: Turret room is romantic

We booked the Turret Room which is possibly the best room in the house. I can't remember the cost but it was about £20-£30 more than the other rooms, but for an extra few quid it is well worth it. The room was beautiful and tastefully decorated. We ate dinner in the dining room the first night, which was good. The staff were very friendly and mannerly, though I noticed that one of the staff struggled with advanced level English when she was questioned about the ingredients in a particular dish by a rather "high maintenance" guest.
Breakfast was served by wonderful middle aged gent who was an old pro when it came to making people feel at their ease, issuing a kind word or mild joke and generally knowing where to pitch it for the characters of each of the guests.
One minor criticism, I thought the dining room was looking like it could do with a refit in parts. I'm sure its on the owner's list to do.
As regards proximity to the town, it was about 10-15 minute gentle walk to Betty's.
I'd have no hesitation in going back here again or recommending this hotel to other. A wonderful place.

Room Tip: Put your hand slightly deeper in the pocket and go for the Turret Room. I'm sure the other rooms...

We chose this hotel based on other trip advisor reviews and weren't disappointed. We received a very warm welcome on arrival, and found all the staff very friendly. The room was extremely comfortable and well appointed, and the hotel was very peaceful. We enjoyed a very lovely meal in the hotel, the food, particularly the starter and main course was excellent. Breakfast likewise was very good. The staff were extremely attentive and helpful.

In terms of location the hotel is a short walk from the centre of Harrogate and all the attractions.

Our only regret was that we only had one night at the hotel.

Just returned from a 3-night stay at this hotel, and it was a great experience. The hotel is very pretty, comfortable and clean. The staff are all very friendly and the food is excellent, with the dinner amazingly reasonable at £22 for a three course meal. I would be pleased to stay there again and to recommend it to all.

My wife and I stayed here for a night to get away from the kids. It was perfect. The location is ideal (5 min walk into town). The welcome was warm and the room was lovely. Breakfast included the best kippers we have ever had. Thank you for a great stay.

Myself and my partner decided to have a night away and after reading some fantastic reviews we opted for the Ascot House Hotel. I'm so glad we did. We received a lovely welcome and were given information about Harrogate and suggested places to visit as we checked in. Our room was really cozy and spotless. It had clearly been renovated in the past year or so because it had a modern but traditional feel.

We ate in the hotel that night, which is not something that we normal do, but this was certainly a great choice as the food was outstanding! We couldn't believe that it was only £22 for 3 courses! It really was one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Breakfast was beautiful too.

I would certainly recommend the Ascot House Hotel and we can't wait to return.
