“3 night stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

my wife and I, from Canada, were visiting my parents who live in Harrogate. We found the Ascot Hotel to be very well located being a short walk of 10 minutes to the town centre ( 5 to the convention centre). The staff were very friendly, especially the gentleman who served breakfast. The breakfast was extremely good offering a full Yorkshire, kippers, porridge, cereals etc. The room was smallish but this is England in older buildings. The bathroom was totally updated with good daily housekeeping. We will definitely stay here again on our annual return visits. One word of caution, as Harrogate is usually busy with conventions suggest book early.

The service was very good and the staff pleasant and cheerful. The room was adequate and there was little noise of traffic. The floorboards were very squeeky but you got used to it. The first nights sleep was spoilt by the next room occupants returning after two in the morning and then chatting for 25 minutes. It was an inter connecting room and therefore did not have adequate sound proofing. The second night, Sunday, was quiet.
The breakfast was very good and set us up for the day ahead; hence the 4 stars

Room Tip: Don't have room 8 or it's adjoining partner

just returned from a lovely weekend in Harrogate staying at this very pleasant, warm and friendly hotel. The bedroom was of a very high standard with excellent furniishing and an extremely comfy bed. Breakfast was good and set us up for the day. The waiter was a lovely man. The whole hotel was spotless. Had a quick drink in their bar, where the service was quick despite there being a private function on at the same time. Didn't have evening meal only because we do like our curry on a saturday night. maybe next time as the menu did look good.
Only observation i had, was the cups in the bedroom were a bit on the small side, a mug would have been nice.

My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights on our first trip to Europe. The room was wonderful. We had a little trouble locking the door when we left, but the on call guy came and helped us. The location is in a quaint suburban neighborhood and a short walk to town. We felt safe at all times. The breakfast was amazing. We were asked if we wanted the full breakfast. My daughter and I thought that was a wierd question of course we wanted the full breakfast. That was our first English breakfast and I must say it was the best I had while I was in the UK. Home cooked to order. I love this place and hope to visit again. I definitely recommend staying here!

Clean, warm, comfortable. Good location, nice staff and good food. Just the job for a short break, couldn't find any faults. Good hearty breakfast, ate dinner one evening which was excellent and good value. Would certainly stay here again should we decide to return to Harrogate

Once you have mastered the labrynth of corridors and stairs, you are assured of a warm and friendly welcome to this family run hotel.

The hotel is well situated for the town centre, a 10 minute stroll, and is warm, welcoming, clean and comfortable, and offers, not only a first class service, but wholesome, freshly cooked and extremely appetising breakfast and dinner.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anybody. Thank you Ascot House for a memorable 2 night stay.

Lovely room which was cleaned within an inch if its life. Enough tea coffee makings, some biscuits, water and sweets provided to. Staff friendly and the builiding was lovely and warm. Bar a little boring no one using it much which was a shame. Restaurant too is good a promising menu. Too much black pepper on everything for my taste and drizzled with balsamic too not really sure why. But otherwise very good value
