“THIS WAS OUR SECOND VISIT IN TWO MONTHS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

I would prefer not to share our experience as I wish to keep this place a secret to ensure they have a room available next time we visit. However as I found it through trip advisor only fair to spread the word. Best B&B we have stayed in, in Harrogate. Location excellent for exploring and proximity to town centre. Parking on street with permits. Breakfast first class. Very warm welcome and lovely clean room. Couldn't ask for more. I hope they have rooms available next time we visit.

nice location as not far from the conference centre, but our room only had 1 window that opened and the room was very warm. The owners attitude is appaulling, when talking or discussing problems with visitors to the hotel so if you do go make sure you have someone with you as they both go at you at the same time. I was disgusted with the way they spoke to my leader and i think a written apology is in order. I shall not be recommending anyone to stop here. there was a wait for the breakfasts in the mornings as well and my husband did enjoy hi 4 slices of mushrooms on hiss plate

Having booked the entire hotel for two nights and agreed a price many months ago, our group leader was called the day before we were due to arrive informing her that the price had been increased by £5 pp per night!! On arrival she was verbally attacked by both sisters and on the second morning was reduced to tears. Very unprofessional behaviour considering we had booked the entire place. Breakfast was very slow and sparse portions. Wifi advertised but unavailable. Our business party is some 900 people strong and visit Harrogate once a year for the weekend- none of us will be using the Cavendish in the future. The rooms although clean are VERY small and stuffy. BITTERLY DISSAPOINTED.

We attended a wedding in Harrogate.
The Cavendish allowed us to book in early at no extra cost.
The room was very clean and comfortable with tea and coffee provided.
Parking was easy to find outside and the Cavendish provided a parking permit.
The town was only a 2 mins walk if not less.
Everyone was friendly and the breakfast was excellent.
Would go back and would recommend to friends and family

How different this place was from last year. No warm greeting but a verbal attack on the group organiser who was not even present. You have not paid enough for your room!!!!. I'm not calling her a liar!!!. Found these comments shocking and my wife and I did not know where to look. There was an over-powering smell of lilly's through the whole of the foyer. Don't have cooked breakfast if you are in a hurry or a vegetarian. Painfully slow is an understatement and how could anybody not be embarrassed to serve four slices of mushroom, two tomatoes and some sloppy scrambled egg as a vegetarian breakfast. Beans were available on the first day but we were told on the Sunday that we could not have them. The group organiser was then given a barrage form the two owners about payment. She was paying the full price anyway despite them going back on a verbal agreement. Disgusting attitude on the owners part. They have not only lost our yearly custom, but will now be lucky if they get anybody from the 1000 strong delegation. This has got to be one of the worst hotel stays I have ever experienced.

Room Tip: Take a fan if in a room and keep your window shut in a front room, you will hear everything.

The location is lovely, not far from centre but quite. The hotel itself is clean and tidy. The breakfast is ordered individually so unless there is no one else in the breakfast room when you order you have a very long wait, as already stated there is not a great option for vegetarians. The rooms were small and very hot (yes it was August and hot outside) one small window that opened. The staff's appalling attitude telling other guests from our group that the payment for booking wasn't enough and there had been a mistake on our group leaders part is out of order, it had already been discussed with the group leader so why did we all need to know!! AND shouting at guests about payment and making guests cry is not acceptable. We will never visit again and we will be passing this experience onto our senior people to ensure that none of our 1000 co workers are treated like this by this hotel next year when we are all in Harrogate again for our national conference.

Greagt location very convenient easy to walk into centre. The room was large at the front and the staff friendly and welcoming. Excellent breakfast freshly made from local produce. The room was slightly noisy on Saturday night with people walking up the street.

Room Tip: Front room good size but slightly noisy on Saturday night
