please please please dont even book this hotel no wonder it is so cheap. there was 18 of us who where due to stay in this hotel to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday. on arrival we had no receptionist to greet us so we had to wait around about 2hrs to get keys then only to be advised they never had any rooms for us!. finally we got sorted and were given some keys , i dished them out to the 9 couples and then 1 by 1 they come back down the stairs to say no way theye were staying here. there was mould everywhere, water coming out of light fitments, dirty bedding, the list goes on. in the end we got a refund and stayed elsewhere. the first thing i done when i got home was call enviromental health!

We have booked for our team to stay for 4 nights at Aston in June 2011. Well, should have checked the reviews before doing that. After booking through booking.com, the guys arrived to the hotel after a hard days work only to be told in a very inpolite manner that there were no rooms available, so they were transferred to a sister hotel ( apprently a better one).

The hotel was a joke- the shower didn't work, it was very-very-very dirty and the staff had appauling attitude. In the morning there was a big dog walking around the breakfast area and sniffing the food. The toast was brought out and left on a dish covered with a wet!!!!! cloth - god only knows where that's been! All in all, even basic sanitary guidelines have been completely ignored in this place.

After the horrendous nights sleep the team decided not to endure this pain again and checked out to find a place to stay elsewhere. But that's where the nightmare really began. Even after agreeing to pay for the night that we've stayed we wanted to cancel the remaning 3 as there was no way we were going to stay there. That was 2 weeks ago, and we are still battling with booking.com to get a refund. The hotel is calling us liars and are not admitting anything, despite theior reviews speaking for themselves!

So if you are reading this-AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!! it is cheap but it is not worth it!

Rooms were booked for a party of 14 2months ago. 6 twins and a 4 bed. Upon arrival the staff were completely unaware of our booking and explained that there is not a 4 bed room in this hotel. The manager was contacted via telephone(this became a regular occurrence as she was never on site). We eventually managed to leave our belongings in one room in order not to miss our afternoon appointments.
We returned at 5.40pm to check in. The manager was on site and insisted we pay before she would give us the room key. I was given a key for my room and upon entering I noticed other people's belongings in the room. I immediately returned the key and insisted that the manager should keep a log of the rooms that are occupied and that I didn't feel my belongings were safe. The manager brushed this off and said ok ok here is another room key. I proceeded to this room and could not access. Again I wad given a room key for the wrong room. Third time lucky I got into a room.
The shower did not work, nor the tv. I went to another member of the party to use the shower in their room which also didn't work. I eventually found a party member who's shower did work without giving me third degree burns!
The manager wad no where to be seen to make a complaint and the number to contact her on was going to an automated machine.
In the morning it took an hour and 15 mins to receive breakfast which was Luke warm. I ended up helping the young girl clear our table of dirty pots as I felt so sorry for her. Again the manager was no where in sight. Half a dozen guests rang the manager and insisted she come and speak with us. It took her 45 mins to get to us from the sister hotel 5 mins down the rd.
The manager would not listen to any of the complaints. She was extremely rude and shouted abuse. The fire exits were also blocked, when I informed her if this she said they were not fire doors. When I told her that the doors have the fire sticker keep clear on she said she would pull them off .... I have uploaded the pics as evidence of the lack if health & safety for the guests staying here. I also witnessed a member of staff turning the fire alarm off to stop the alarm whilst breakfast was being made.
If you do decide to go against the reviews and stay here ....... DO NOT PAY ON ARRIVAL !!!!!

well....where do i start....we booked a family room as we could get a early check in because we was going to my brothers wedding..upon arrival...no reception apart from a phone and a number wrote on a piece of scrap paper....phoned them and was greeted with your rooms not ready and is still dirty!!!!after waiting nearly half a hour,a guy did come round and finally gave us a key..by this time a large party had arrived and like us was left waiting around.no one from the hotels eemed to have a clue what was going on...room was..how can i put it politely.....shocking!...dirty,toe nails in the 'bathroom'..no lock on 'bathroom' door.lights didnt work and pair of dirty tights in wardrobe.
am so glad it was just a bed for the night but it didnt stop there...got back around midnight and around 3am...was woken by knocking on a door saying your in the wrong room...what the hell!!!!!
following morning....shower that seemed to come straight from a volcano,no cold water....and then...breakfast...what a joke...sat down and a foreign girl came over to take our order...3 full english brekkys seemed in order....HOUR AND HALF LATER...it came after several compliants....mine and my daughters were cold....and minus bacon and sausage...fried egg u could used as a frisbie..pathetic!!!.....it came so pathetic that other guests that were there were exchanging horror stories with us.....a linch mob was assembling at reception baying for manager but she seemed to be hiding in a different hotel.when she did arrive with a huge dog that preceeded to crap in the hotel garden in front of guest...id had enough....as i left, the hotel was shouting at fellow guests saying they were lying and it was our fault that there was no cold water?????eh....people who run hotels like this give harrogate a bad name.....it is a beautiful town....i will imagine anne robinson will be paying a visit with her watchdog team before long....

Room Tip: go to a different hotel...best tip of all

I stayed here for my hen do and we had booked 6 rooms personally by phone with the manager. On arrival the staff looked perplexed that we would want to stay and seemed have no clue as to how to check us in. We ended up having to go to our day activities before completing. On arrival back we were greeted by the manager who wanted money up front (big mistake). Two of our party were given keys to a room that already had occupants and the second room key they were given wouldn't open the door. Half the rooms didn't have a shower that worked and the ones that did provided 3rd degree burns. TVs didn't work, kettles were missing from rooms, toilet doors didn't lock and all of the fire exits were blocked. We were placed next to the staff room/quarters and were kept up till 3am with them talking as there was only a locked glass door with plasterboard separating us. The following morning we arrived for breakfast and had to wait 45 minutes and when it arrived it was cold. We complained to the manager via phone and asked her to come and deal with us personally. When she finally arrived her customer service involved taking you into your room ignoring everything you said and shouting at you until you left in disgust. Do not stay in this hotel!

Horrendous....
I cannot bear to even waste my time writing about this place - it was an absolute sh1t hole and should be closed down.
The manager is completely incompetent and after offering us a £5 refund on our £65 bill she shouted, called us liars and eventually just left us in reception while she escaped to the sister hotel having not resolved our issues.
If we had not paid up front there is no way I would have paid for our room and would have walked out straight after the laughable excuse for a fried breakfast much like another family did.
- No working showers in the room - manager said we could have used the bath.
- Waited 1hr 20mins to be served a stone cold fried breakfast.
- Bucket on floor in middle of one room while water dripped through a light fitting.
- Enormous dog allowed to roam freely around kitchens, rooms and communal areas.
- Staff barely able to speak English.
- AWFUL MANAGER WHO REFUSED TO LISTEN TO OUR COMPLAINTS AND INSTEAD SHOUTED AT US CALLING US LIARS.
- Hot tap on bath produced steam, cold tap produced nothing.
- Unable to check in on arrival.
- Presented with keys to a room where other people were already staying.
- Lack of security as most of the room doors did not lock.
DO NOT EVER STAY HERE - OR IF YOU HAVE TO DON'T PAY UP FRONT AND THEN LEAVE WITHOUT PAYING.
Shambolic...

Positive:
1.We got the price down to £55 over the phone for one night.

Not so Positive:
1. The Place is a Dump!
2. Poo on the toilet seat!
3. group of 18 and 9 rooms were given to some one else,
4. Took 2 hours to get my money back
5. Water pouring though room 9 ceiling
6. water from room 9 going in to room 2,
7. Dirty! No guarantee that your not alone, when your in bed together with your partner
8. Staff had no idea what to do!
9. poo stains on the bed in room 9!
10, Cellar flats stunk + Dirty
11, there was a lot more wrong but i think i will be here all day haha!

The place is a heath risk, We choose not to stop here after seeing most of the room. we paid £95 for bed and breakfast at the local holiday Inn for £20 each extra, a lot better and its all you can eat breakfast!
