“A lovely little hotel in a pleasant little town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

In town for a wedding and this hotel was extremely clean and comfortable. Had ammenities of the larger hotels in larger cities. Good breakfast. Ideal for activities in local area or if passing through. Close to London and Peterborough if you need accommodation in this area.

This could be a lovely place to stay if money was invested to take care of the silly niggles like broken door locks, lamps and bed bases - mould in the bathroom and better security.
However its basic and staff were friendly with a good breakfast. Eat before you arrive otherwise you will have to live on bar snacks if restaurant is closed.
It was a quiet location and facilities could be better.

Room Tip: If its warm ask for an upstairs room as there is no air con and windows cannot be left open in downs...

If you are looking for a romantic get away / cosy base for your tour of local market towns this is not for you! However, if you want a basic but clean room then this place is adequate.

The breakfast was full English and they tailored mine to my requests, but one morning we were there, a large stag do was getting breakfast and drinking beer at 8.30am - slightly intimidating for us being the only guests there.

On arrival our bedroom was very clean but the bathroom smelt terrible - the receptionist came to smell it and came up with the excuse that the cleaner had called in sick so not all rooms had been cleaned. Our second room was fine. The rooms were nicely heated and we had no noise issues with other guests / the truck place next door (although it was the weekend, and I think we have may have been the only guests!) However, the mattresses were very thin and my boyfriend and I both woke up with backache from them.

We were exploring local market towns and so this place was in a good location; however for £20 a night more you could get a 4 star in Peterborough town centre, so not competitively priced.

The rooms are in a separate block away from the main bar/restaurant. The rooms are cheaply furnished with paper thin walls. I could hear every noise from the chap in the next room including his TV, use of the toilet and snoring! There is also a lorry operation next door and the vehicles left at about 5am. Users of the bar/restaurant left well after 11 with much cheery farewells and door slamming. The room smelt of bleach and the breakfast lacked choice. It was overpriced for what it was.

Room Tip: Don't!
