“Gordon Ramsay Please Help!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

1. I really hate to negatively review anywhere so this is reluctantly done.
2. We came in for a simple bar snack at 17.15 when everything was quiet but didn't manage to escape til 19.00 hours.
3. Our first servings of everything (coffee, wrap, linguini with mussels, prawns amd parmesan shavings) were stone cold.
4. Second attempt produced very bitter over-stewed coffee, but hot!; odd veggie wrap with vinegary warm guacamole and oily salad leafs; and linguini without prawns or parmesan.
5. Half an hour later the linguini dish as per menu and assumptions (hot and with prawns and parmesan) was produced.
6. No reduction on the bill so asked to see the manager.
7. Charged for the main course (linguini) but not for the coffee or wrap.
Conclusion: There are a lot of places in Ireland that you can eat where you will experience better service, better value and better chefs.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience .I am sorry to see however it was not a positive one. I have spoken with the chef on behalf of your comments and he has apologised that your dish was slightly cold. The coffee we provide is freshly perculated and their is no vinegar added to the guacamole. In addition, there was seven prawns in the dish upon serving and 4 upon return. I am glad to see you were offered a reduction on your bill, and once again apologise for the unsatisfactory dining experience you had with us.

Kind Regards,

I found an unbeatable special offer by this hotel which included a 2 night stay for 2, dinner on 1 night and breakfast for a very reasonable price. I found the location to be convenient and most of the staff at the hotel were very nice, the maid in particular. However, if you are looking for a 4 star experience I would not book this hotel. There were several problems that I would not consider to be acceptable in a hotel of this rating. First, there was a very prominent damage mark on the tv which made viewing difficult, there were faint brown stains on the towel in the bathroom, and the guest information book had been scribbled on almost all its pages by some previous guest's child. The toilet paper holder was missing from the wall in the bathroom, which was not equipped with a shower cap, body lotion, vanity kit, etc, and it looked generally worn down and old. There are also no spa/beauty services or leisure facilities in house, although there is a spa close by. If I had paid full price for the room I would have been disappointed but I was very happy overall with the deal. The breakfast and dinner was very nice in the restaurant and I would recommend dining there. Waterford City in general was great for the food, history, and interesting nightlife. Well worth a trip.

One night stay 11.01.13,
Reception was professional and friendly.
Room a little tired and could do with a face-lift but perfectly adequate and very clean.
Service standards in restaurant for dinner could be improved but a very nice dining space. Food was excellent and possibly the best best steak I have had in a long time.
Slept well with no noise interruptions.
Breakfast was excellent, nice selection of hot and cold options. The waiting staff in the morning where exceptional.
Check out was fast, professional and again friendly.
Overall the hotel needs updating in places but will stay again when in the Waterford area.

Got a cheap voucher to spend in Waterford City. City is small but contains a lot you could imagine. Got there early by train and tried to check-in, room was not ready obviously but the receptionist let us leave our bags while waiting so we rover around City a bit.
Came back and got a room without a light at the hall way - first light will tell you "Welcome" to your room is not visible or doesn't exist for some reason. Few hours later repairman came and said it won't be fixed that time because he doesn't have the rare species bulb part. One minor complain was there a bit of teared out carpet close to the window -nothing serious but awful for a 4start hotel to stare at. We went down to again see the city but befor that tried if we can move to another room, fortunately we got one new. There in the new room one thing to compain was a missing whole body mirror in the hall way again. But overall, we like the simplicity of the food, room was affordable and if somebody will ask us if we want to recommend this hotel... ammm.. may need to think about it again.

Had a lovely weekend in the Fitzwilton Hotel with my boyfriend. The staff were very friendly, room was in great condition and both the breakfast and dinner were delicious! I would definitely recommend this hotel :)

We have just returned from a two night stay in the Fitzwilton Hotel and we were very happy with every aspect of our stay there.Every single member of staff we met was helpful, courteous and friendly especially Oresta and Danny who we met a few times. We ate dinner there one night which was nicer than the one we ate in a city centre restaurant and our breakfast was delicious both mornings.Top class cocktails made in the bar by Davy too! We were there midweek so it was quiet in the hotel and bar but Waterford itself was very quiet so I wouldn't take this as a reflection of the hotel. We would happily recommend it to others and hope to return to stay there again soon!

Stayed here for the first time last weekend - good value for the price and paid €55 for a room for the night - room perfectly fine - view from the back of the hotel not great but quiet enough - good night sleep had - the bar a bit strange in that very quiet indeed even late at night - however found that Waterford very quiet in general at this time of year.....would definitely stay here again as well located
