Spent last weekend 2 adults and 1 kid here in the Tower and was a bit disappointed in the condition of the family room, fixtures loose in the bathroom cracks in the ceiling above beds with plaster hanging off and paint/plaster falling off the walls too was very unsightly.Decor was something from the 80`s and dressers & cabinets were showing there age badly and loose.
Very noisy on the street below with traffic and as it was an averagely mild weathered weekend we could not escape the stuffiness in the room by leaving the window ajar even the slightest or you`d be left awake, albeit we tried for a room swap early on the second day and we were told all the family rooms were located in the same area so no joy there.
Surely the family rooms would be in the quieter section if possible?
Anyway avoid the restaurant although we got a dinner included in deal it was not worth it,the seafood chowder was leek and potato soup with fish chunks and flakes which had echoes from the wedding which was taking place next door(just call it off?),nothing like the creamy chunky chowder with crispy croutons and herb oil!!as described.
The crumbed cajun chicken was exactly the same as my 11 yr olds kids meal, breaded snack box dried breast with no cajun spices or seasoning and peppersauce on mash and carrot puree?
i have been served better produce from carvery places in the past, dessert order was taking at start and thus the cheescake and cream was nice and warm when served, yummy?
I have been here a few times before but not in 3 yrs or so and i used to love the restaurant and it was always excellent quality produce and very confident food but it seems to have faded in the midst since:(.
Breakfast was standard deep fried everything for the hearty or warm OJ,fruit and cereals were visible, tea and toast was nice.
The glasses everywhere were filthy stained,be warned.
I like the bar and always did,but still too pricey for the black stuff and it was warm on the first day, soup!
Leisure center was ok,clean but basic and showing wear.
Staff were very nice and pleasant.
I won`t be back unless i can pick my own room, preferably one of the refurbed ones i have been hearing about!
High speed free wifi was a bonus too.
I used to love this and still love it`s location and it`s looks on the outside too, just they need to open there eyes a little bit more with a would that do me attitude maybe?
Barely came close to value for money imo.
Fbd also own it now which is that a good thing?i heard the Temple Bar Hotel is keeping them a float.
I love Waterford and it has great people and a top Italian Restaurant Emiliano``s on High St which is nearly worth the trip alone,i will be back down very soon and the new road is brilliant (back to Kildare 1.15 mins!),just time to find a new venue i think.
