“Love the City,not the hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2010

Spent last weekend 2 adults and 1 kid here in the Tower and was a bit disappointed in the condition of the family room, fixtures loose in the bathroom cracks in the ceiling above beds with plaster hanging off and paint/plaster falling off the walls too was very unsightly.Decor was something from the 80`s and dressers & cabinets were showing there age badly and loose.
Very noisy on the street below with traffic and as it was an averagely mild weathered weekend we could not escape the stuffiness in the room by leaving the window ajar even the slightest or you`d be left awake, albeit we tried for a room swap early on the second day and we were told all the family rooms were located in the same area so no joy there.
Surely the family rooms would be in the quieter section if possible?
Anyway avoid the restaurant although we got a dinner included in deal it was not worth it,the seafood chowder was leek and potato soup with fish chunks and flakes which had echoes from the wedding which was taking place next door(just call it off?),nothing like the creamy chunky chowder with crispy croutons and herb oil!!as described.
The crumbed cajun chicken was exactly the same as my 11 yr olds kids meal, breaded snack box dried breast with no cajun spices or seasoning and peppersauce on mash and carrot puree?
i have been served better produce from carvery places in the past, dessert order was taking at start and thus the cheescake and cream was nice and warm when served, yummy?
I have been here a few times before but not in 3 yrs or so and i used to love the restaurant and it was always excellent quality produce and very confident food but it seems to have faded in the midst since:(.
Breakfast was standard deep fried everything for the hearty or warm OJ,fruit and cereals were visible, tea and toast was nice.
The glasses everywhere were filthy stained,be warned.
I like the bar and always did,but still too pricey for the black stuff and it was warm on the first day, soup!
Leisure center was ok,clean but basic and showing wear.
Staff were very nice and pleasant.
I won`t be back unless i can pick my own room, preferably one of the refurbed ones i have been hearing about!
High speed free wifi was a bonus too.
I used to love this and still love it`s location and it`s looks on the outside too, just they need to open there eyes a little bit more with a would that do me attitude maybe?
Barely came close to value for money imo.
Fbd also own it now which is that a good thing?i heard the Temple Bar Hotel is keeping them a float.
I love Waterford and it has great people and a top Italian Restaurant Emiliano``s on High St which is nearly worth the trip alone,i will be back down very soon and the new road is brilliant (back to Kildare 1.15 mins!),just time to find a new venue i think.

Stayed in the tower for my boyfriends graduation for college, got a fantastic deal. Free parking which was very handy as it is a 5min walk right into the city centre. The staff in the tower are great, especially Deirdre and Louise in the Bar. Breakfast was ok, not overly-impressive but would do. We did not eat in the hotel apart from breakfast. The room was not great, needs to be painted badly & tiles were loose in the bathroom and needs to be seriously dusted. Bed was comfortable enough. Would stay again if we got such a great bargain as the last time!!

Stayed here for business. Requested a room change on arrival as an air conditioning unit was very noisy below my open window. This is a problem when there is no aircon. The room was in the old part of the hotel, weird narrow doors. Next room was larger or perhaps better arranged. Front desk staff were very helpful. Free on-site parking. Use the pool which was excellent for laps, good length and depth. The pool, steam room and jacuzzi are not at all up to any form of 'spa' experience. It was laughable but pleasant. Sauna was out of action. The steam room is tiny and has plastic garden furniture rather than tiled benches. The jacuzzi is so tiny that with all the regulars squeezed in there was no chance for anyone else. The changing rooms are a bit dire. The regular gym/ swim crowd were absolutely delightful and made the whole experience rather fun. Dinner at the bistro was good value and the breakfast was of good range and quality. Wifi worked well. I would stay here again for busines however would not recommend the hotel for a romantic or spa break. I would anticipate the hotel will improve once the room rennovations are complete throughout the hotel.

Stayed just one night as a birthday treat-The room was very small i suspect it was a single room with a double bed but for 50 euro B+B i wont complain - I really wanted to write this review just to comment on the customer service it was excellent from the reception to the restraunt to the bar were friendly, polite and willing to help - even the girl busy hoovering the stairs greeted us on our way down- All that and the lovely views will ensure our return but i would like a bigger room next time

We stayed in a double room which was awful. Room was beside the lift and could hear the lifts going up and down. When i rang reception to complain the receptionist told me that after 11pm the lifts wouldn't be going and on a Sunday night in January they had no other double rooms available, which i find hard to believe. The shower didn't work properly, the curtain rail was hanging down. Room was too hot and when you opened the window you could hear the extractors from the back of the hotel.

Never slept a wink while on my stay here! between traffic on the road, boats, xmas parties and loud music this hotel had lost it all.
The room decour is appalling and needs a whole revamp. The bathroom had disgusting yellow stains around the bath. Just stay clear this is a hotel with great potential and need a cash injection and stylist badly!
