A group of six of us stayed in the Woodlands after golfing nearby.. We were meet by a very nice friendly receptionist who had us checked in and sorted in no time .. Rooms warm and spacious .. Dinner in the bar was excellent and staff great! In the morning enjoyed a swim and jacuzzi before a hearty breakfast .. Would highly recommend ..

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

I stayed here for twice in mid March. The first room was on the first floor and faced the back car park, the second room was on the 2nd floor and faced the front. Both rooms were nice and big
Room 1: this was opsite the elevator but I had no issues with noise from people leaving the lift. it was a room with a double and 2 singles. It also had a nice table with 3 chairs as well as desk. The beds were lovely and comfortable. the phone was on the desk on the opposite side of the room to the bed so the wake up call actually got me up instead of the usual answering and falling back to sleep. The bathroom was nice and clean, the shower lovely and hot after running the water for a minute or two. There were some tea and coffee facilities in the room as well as a hairdryer which was nice.
Room2: This room seemed to be the same size as the 1st but there was only 1 double which was as comfortable as the first (only problem I had was it had a steel headboard where as the other had a wooden one, which I find more comfy for sitting up in bed)The table in this room was less like a kitchen size table more like one you'd see in a bar, and the chair was too short for the desk so I found it more uncomfortable to used the desk to study than the previous one.
The staff were really friendly and helpful, and seemed to be genuinely in a good mood (I've been in other hotels where you feel like you are imposing on them when you ask a question).
I used the fitness centre a few times and its pretty nice, can get a little busier in the evening but I never had to wait for a machine. The bar does a carvery lunch until about 3pm which is lovely and very reasonably priced. The breakfast was also nice there was a mixture of cereal, yoghurt, juice, croissants, irish fry - sausage, hash brown, beans, rasher, toast etc.
Its about a 5min drive to the hospital (Waterford Regional), there is a bus across the road that goes into the city centre (it runs about every 20-30mins Mon-Sat). There is no public transport in waterford city on Sundasy or bank holidays and it finishes pretty early generally between 9-10pm, but a taxi from the city centre (train station) cost me approximately €20.
The overall cleanliness was good, its in off the main road so in general there were no issues with load noises outside. The Wifi was good, with decent speeds (in some hotels they have wifi but its slower than dial-up)
I would definitely stay here again if looking for a hotel in waterford

Stayed here with my girlfriend when attending the WIT Humanities Ball 2013. Checked in promptly and well by the lovely receptionist she was a delight couldnt have been more nice.
Room was great. Double bed was an actual DOUBLE bed and not 2 singles pushed together as iv seen in other places. Bed was so comfy got a great night sleep which can be difficult in hotels sometimes.
Event was good although service during the meal was somewhat hectic with people of our tables food going cold while waiting for other halfs veg option to arrive. I work in hotel industry myself and would suggest staggered service and finishing tables before moving onto next.
Drink prices were very reasonable and was delighted they had Smithicks on tap yay.
Overall loved the rooms, spacious yet intimate, great beds, lovely receptionist, dinner service could be better. Would defo stay here again.

A great welcome on arrival and friendly helpful staff throughout the hotel.
Stayed only one night and so did not use the spa facilities but other guests reported they were excellent.
Bar food was excellent, swiftly served and great value.
Wifi (free) was excellent throughout the hotel albeit poor in our room.
Old style TV in the room.
Room was very large and good views and quiet even though we were near the lift lobby.
Offers good access to Waterford City (5 minute drive) and the coastal area and beach at Passage East.
Shops, pubs, restaurants and Waterford hospital a stones through away (Few minutes walk)

We found this hotel to have very friendly and efficient staff. My sister, my cousin and myself stayed in a triple room which was very roomy. We were located on the first room but found that the heating wasn't working in the room. I rang down to the receptionist who said someone up to check it out. When he discovered it wasn't working the receptionist moved us immediately to the second floor having gone herself to this new room to ensure the heating was working herself.
The bar food was very good value and well presented.
The breakfast in the morning was buffet, lovely and hot and plentiful. Lovely woman served tea and coffee.
Would highly recommend this hotel.
