“Nice traditional hotel, with friendly staff, will be back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions for business purposes and have always found the hotel and its staff pleasant andits location excelent for my visits to the area. The hotel now has free WiFi which is great for the business traveller with a strong signal throughout the hotel. Special requests have always been dealt with in a friendly manner and I have always been made welcome. The bar can be busy but this is part of the Granville experience with happy people enjoying the Craic and a Guinness or two. I cannot comment on the evening meals as I always eat out side of the hotel with my Irish hosts. Breakfasts have always been of good quality and served hot, again with any special requirements catered for where possible.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

A few years ago I stayed with my husband in another Waterford hotel and was not impressed at all. So when business required a two night stay over I was quite anxious but need not have been at all.
My clients booked myself and a colleague into the Granville for two nights and the experience was excellent.
A beautiful hotel whose management has had the good sense to enhance the old world charm with sympathetic decor. Modern but in touch with the buildings history- all good.
The bed was heaven, room clean and well equipped.
WiFi worked with no issues- such a great find as so many 'business' hotels do not either provide free access or else the signal is very weak.
My one moan, and this goes for so many other hotels, is the blooming shower curtains. They blow in on top of you and cling hideously on you as you wash. It is a slimy feel, although at least here in the Granville they were spotlessly clean. Why can hotels not simply put in a good sized shower booth??
Ate there and food was absolutely fine- no big bells and whistles but edible, tasty and served by a pleasant team. Big positive with breakfast which was cooked to order- so much better than big tureens of semi-solid, cross contaminated plop in so many Irish hotel. I enjoyed grilled fish both mornings which was heaven.
So well done to all at the Granville. I now know where to stay when down that way again.

Delighted you enjoyed your stay and that you will stay with us when next in Waterford. The time you took to write your review is very mush appreciated as are your very kind comments on all what we aspire to achieve with décor, food, hospitality etc. The shower booth is a very sensible and we have a few rooms with separate shower booths so please request one of those on your next visit. However we are obliged to have all rooms with baths and showers and hopefully in time this will change to only having a certain amount with both bath and shower. I know this does not get over the problem with shower curtain clinging. We have looked at this and a solution that seems to work when we tried it out was to keep the bathroom door closed when taking the shower. Also I am looking into trying to source non clinging shower curtains. We do appreciate you bring this to our attention and we will try to solve it. It is also appreciated that you said the curtain was clean.

A really tasty meal in the bar. We picked a prominent seat to sit in as the last time we sat near the fire around the corner and service wasn't great. Service was much improved today though as we sat directly opposite the bar. Food was tasty and good value. It worked out very well as a pre-theatre snack.

Stayed there for a couple of nights just before New Year. Despite the fact that it was packed with hotel and wedding guests, the service was great (and friendly). Comfortable room, nice bar and central location (although good luck working out the cheapest of the car parks across the road!).

Room Tip: If you want a view, it has to be at the front. Ours was at the back but made no difference to the st...

The Granville Hotel is situated on Meaghes Quay and is easily accessible from the N25. It is about 15 minutes from Waterford airport and 1 1/2 hours from Cork airport. A traditional building which has been established for many years. It is in close proximity to locals shops, pubs and other restaurants including the Waterford Crystal workshop.

Reception is manned 24 hours and the staff are very welcoming, professional and courteous. Check in is after 2pm and check out before noon. Rooms are accessed via a single lift or stairs. The main bar area and restaurant are adjacent to the lobby. The bar serves a wide selection of hot / cold food and drinks at reasonable prices. The service is excellent and the staff can't do enough for you.

The restaurant offers a high standard of cuisine and wide choice of wines. Again the service is excellent. Breakfast is also served in the restaurant as a self service buffet style and table service for hot food.

Rooms are tastefully decorated in a traditional style in keeping with the hotel. They are well maintained. Access is via a digital key card which is also used to control the lights in the room. Room facilities include: coffee / tea making tray, trouser press, free WIFI, satelite TV, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. A same day laundry service and use of iron / ironing board is available.

I have stayed at this hotel many times on business and it is always a pleasure to return.
If you are visiting Waterford and want excellent service with a warm Irish welcome, I would recommend this hotel.

Stayed at the Granville Hotel for New Year with friends had a wonderful few days there, the quality of food was really good and in particular the service. The Gala New years evening was let down by the entertainment which was really bad, but apart from that we had a good time.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We really appreciate your feed back. We are grateful for your positive comments and I am sorry about the entertainment on New Years Eve. Not making an excuse but the person we had booked and who has entertained very well over the last number of New Years Eve took ill and was sadly unable to perform. We have taken your comments on board when looking at next New Years Eve.
