Went here recently for a very special family celebration. We were greeted by one of the co-owners who was very friendly and guided us to our table however, and unfortunately, he was not our waiter for the evening. We had 2 waiters male and female and neither had much of a personality and offered no assistance with the menu. The only word I could use for their personalities was 'cold' and I don't think their personalities suited their job and although they were not local, their english was perfect. We ate off both the special and a la carte menu and while the food was nice, and very well presented, the portions, especially the main was quite small and I think I'd have left there hungry if I hadn't had a starter. We were seated in what appeared to be an old cellar which was extremely cramped and I didn't feel comfortable. The restaurant has too many tables and would be more comfortable with less tables. The whole experience was only ok, I totally agree with another reviewer, I can't see what the hype is about. Perhaps Waterford lacks this type of restaurant therefore, McLeary's lacks competition. I wouldn't rush back.
