The restaurant, pub area, was dirty. The fish pie was overseasoned with thyme, oregano with dill -- very strange flavor combination. The brown bread was good, apple crumble, very good and service friendly. The food was over priced for the quality we received.

I fell in love with dunmore east when I first came here last summer. The strand has an amazing location and I promised to stay here when I returned.
Unfortunately the hotel did not live up to my expectations. The room was a little tatty and had a musty smell. The food was certainly not worthy of the high prices. I would have been satisfied if I had the same meal at 65 percent of the cost, however the high price just left me feeling ripped off.
The staff were friendly but really felt like seasonals with little experience or training.
This review seems very negative so I will say the location is stunning and the Craic in the bar was great. The place is definitely seems like a great pub, just not a great hotel or restaurant.

Only ate here but it is not listed under restaurants - ate lunch in the bar and found the food very ordinary and hugely overpriced - we ordered a toasted sandwich which came out barely toasted, chips which were like Mc Donald's but had a taste of the cooking fat and chowder which was "fine" but at €8.50 should have been much better.

Overall - this place is riding on the publicity of "at you service" and should be getting these things right

I tried to book a triple room which was advertised on the Strand website at a price of €110. When I spoke to the lady to book the room she increased the price by €40 up to €150. When I queried this price and quoted the price on the website I was told that she was telling me the price and I could take it or leave it!!!!
I was appalled at the way I was spoken to and the fact that she did not even try to come up with an excuse for the €40 increase!!! I decided not to book the room on a matter of principle. If that is the way they speak to a potential customer I definitely do not want to give them my business.
