“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2012

While the hotel itself was nice it is appalling that you have to pay for parking in the underground car park. I think you need to encourage tourism to Ireland and this certainly is not the way to do it. You are not made aware of this when you check in/make enquiries and are in fact lead to believe parking is free. I certainly would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It is also not well sign posted and difficult to find. Not impressed. The floor we were on was also very noisy

Stayed in the Glasshouse hotel with three others for the weekend. It was very busy with St Patricks Day drinkers when we arrived and seemed very crowded. Once the crowd thinned out in the early evening it was fine. We could not get a meal at 9.30 anywhere near the hotel and the manager organised that we could get a meal in the hotel even though his staff were finishing up for the night. I would have liked to have had a room facing the river but as i did not think to ask for one that will make me think in the future. The breakfast was lovely, good variety of hot and cold food. The staff were really friendly. The rooms were clean and tidy. The carpet on the corridor was a bit dodgy late in the evening, it waved as we walked. It is in a really great spot with lovely views of the river from the restaurant and the bar. I got a better weekend deal by ringing the hotel than I could get on line.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the river. there is music in the hotel so a higher floor would be better...

I have been a regular customer with the glasshouse hotel, for quite awhile now. i have noticed over the last few months, the hotel seems to be going down hill, there's no organisation or leadership apparent.. which could have been no more obvious than paddy's day. for starters we arrived an were ambushed by crowds of people with no where to sit. decided to stay an see if we could find somewhere to sit, queued at the bar for drinks, from the lack of experience obvious by staff they have never worked behind a bar let alone on one of the busiest days of the year. when i eventually managed to get through, i was hit with the smell of stale drink, clearly no one has heard of cleaning, the bar top was covered in spilled drink & used coffee cups. clearly the hotel would benefit from better management & staff training. i've always enjoyed going to the glasshouse but as of late i think i'll be skipping it for awhile. the whole ordeal was awkward an uncomfortable.

Room Tip: dont waste your money, dont stay.

From the brochure I was impressed with this hotel but the reality was quite different. We stayed for 3 nights. It is much more like a 3 star hotel than 4. The Deluxe room was disappointing with numerous stains on the carpet and chair and a very small bathroom with little power in the shower. We had to ask for shampoo on the 3rd day. There was no attractive open space and the breakfast was basic enough with no thought put into display. The bar was very noisy and other than that there was nowhere nice you could just chill and have a coffee. Very obviously geared to the stag & hen markets. We will not return and advise friends not to do so either

The only good thing about this hotel is the location!! stayed in the glasshouse for 2nights recently to celebrate my friends birthday, and i can honestly say that this was the worst hotel experience iv ever had!!! on arrival hotel receptionist was not friendly nor welcoming! the room had stains on the carpet, the curtains and the chair, there was also a hole on the chair!! breakfast was poor and on the second morning we requested breakfast to the room,so rang reception at 10am,at 12 i had to ring back to ask why we had not received our breakfast,to then be told there had been a mix up and that it would be another 30minutes,when breakfast finally did arrive 2 and a half hours later,it wasnt what we had ordered!! Horrible experience, will never stay there again and will tell everyone about it!!!!

I stayed here for valentines weekend this year and had a great time. Hotel was amazing! Our room was amazing too we had a riverside view with a balcony. The bedroom is very spacious it was a lovely room and we had requested bottle of wine on arrival in which they did for us.

Staff where very friendly and very helpful and the food was also nice. The hotel is beside a lot of shops, restaurants and clubs all short walking distance its right in the centre of everything.
I would really recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Sligo.

Room Tip: Riverside view rooms are large and sunny
