“Comfy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Warm & cosy, the room was spacious and clean. Food in bar excellent, both in terms of taste & value. Staff extremely friendly & helpful. No problem when a late check out was requested . Excellent location if attending Sligo IT for exams .

The outer appearance of the hotel is very promosing. A giant venerable Irish castle. That feeling vanished the second I opened the door and the scent of chlorine rushed through my head. The second sense attacked were my ears. Screaming kids, everywhere.
Tents and toys are located in the foyer. Children running around, yelling at each other. Don't get me wrong. This hotel apparently is the right choice for families as it obviously offers a lot of activities for kids.
Anyway, we didn't bring children. The impression of the staff was actually nothing surprising. They seemed to be annoyed by all the hustle going on. We were only provided with the minimal information and it felt like: check in done, next please.
The room was big, but dark. We did not eat at the restaurant, because again, when we thought about a night at a 4* luxury hotel, we didn't think of a family resort. We left the hotel, to have a quiet dinner.
The hotel is provided with a gym and a pool (you have to weat bathing caps though). Everything is a little crowded and therefor it doesn't feel like a relaxing stay.
In the end, I guess, if you are indeed looking for a resort like family getaway, you should try this hotel.
As a travel journalist, I was supposed to write about charming castles hotels in Ireland. Unfortunately, for this topic, I have to take the Clarion off the list, but maybe there will come a family hotels article any time later.

Room Tip: Make sure, you get a room apart from the wedding/party locations

The foyer of the hotel is very basic and cold. The room was warm and the bed was comfortable. The prices at the bar were unreasonable. The starter at dinner was nice but the main course was anything but. The breakfast was basic and the restaurant was mad busy.Reception staff were welcoming and helpful

Room Tip: rooms at the back of the hotel were noisy because of a wedding

Stayed here 3 years ago and it was just OK. Made a late booking for 3 nights last week which we got at a great price. Arrived to find a vast improvement since last visit. Had booked a double room and found I had a suite with bedroom, lounge, bathroom and separate kitchen with microwave, kettle, cutlery and crockery.
Iron, hairdryer, toiletries also provided in the room. TV in both the bedroom and the lounge.
Hotel restaurant and bar were very reasonably priced. Food was good. All staff were friendly and helpful and service was good. There is a gym and indoor pool. Crazy golf outside.
The location is very close to the town, just under one mile.
All things considered I can’t really find fault and would not hesitate to return.

Stayed for two nights in a suite at the Clarion hotel, the suite was very relaxing, clean and inviting, it was well equipped. We had a lovely view of the mountains. The shower in the suite was great with easy instructions and it was powerful. The t.vs werent flatscreen and didnt have a wide range of channels, but there was two,.The hotel is situated within walking distance of Sligo town and also there is a shop near by if you need anything. The staff in all parts of the hotel were very friendly, welcoming and provide a great service. We ate in the Kudos bar restaurant as the Synergy restaurant was closed, the atmosphere was good as was the food, the seafood chowder was full of fish an very flavoursome. Also the Irish coffees were yummy! The reception area was relaxing to sit an read or have a wee bite . All in all we had a great relaxing stay and will return!!!!

Very friendly staff; excellent value for rate paid; food was good; kids' club was good but under-utilised (perhaps because it was located a little too from restaurant/lounge, etc (where parents would maybe like to 'disappear' to); rooms were big, but TVs, pillows, etc could be upgraded (to make them more modern and more comfortable, respectively); it is a very family-friendly hotel (and, therefore, very noisy at times -- but that's to be expected). Overall, a good hotel with excellent staff.

I thought this would be quite a posh hotel like the Clarion in Cork. Instead the rooms were gloomy and dark. The reception was like a kids' playground. Staff were welcoming though. Food was so so. Wouldn't recommend it but would recommend Sligo.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with decent size windows.
