“Comfort and Care in Sligo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

We stayed here to be near the hospital during a family emergency in January. The staff were fantastically helpful. The place was quiet and calm. The pool and sauna made it possible to catch a quick warm relaxing half hour in days that were otherwise fraught. The food in the bistro was good, the spicy freshly cooked Malaysian grub being a great antidote to Christmas fare. We felt very cared for, all our special requests like tea bags and fresh milk on returning from the hospital at 01:30 in the morning were catered for with real charm and friendliness. I would strongly recommend the hotel

Room Tip: The suites are brilliant

Driving up to this hotel is a impressive sight. This historic building stands out on the hill above Sligo. The receptionist was welcoming on arrival and provided me with all details clearly about the hotel. The room I got had its own kitchenette and sitting area separate from the bedroom, which I was impressed with. Would be ideal for taking the kids. The hotel is very orientated towards families and for me on business I was happy also. I did stay here before and had food in the bar which was ok, but the bar food was not on this time. Only soups salads and sandwiches. The restaurant was open mind you, but I prefer the bar when eating alone. Breakfast the following morning was good and was a fresh buffet. The girl greeting was very pleasant. All in all I will use this hotel for business in the further. Only gripe I had was that I found it hard to get parking on arrival. This was down to the local nearby college using the conference hall for exams. When I was a student I had no car. Not to worry I eventually got a spot.

Dear Parrick3539
Thank you for your feedback and I am delighted that you were overall happy to continue to use us for further business visit to Sligo. I apologise about the parking as the hotel was very busy, we do have further parking around at the conference and Lesiure Centre entrance and reception can be accessed from there also. We look forward to seeing you again.

Best Regards
Sheila

Stayed here with a football team on a team bonding trip. Hotel was nice but getting to the rooms were rather difficult. They had strange design to the hotel which made it quiet difficult to make it to the rooms which wasn't particularly enjoyable . Great leisure facilities in which we had a pool session and a yoga session. Food was good but not great. Would like to give it another chance as was not over impressed first time around.

Dear Aiden B,
Thank you for your review. The building dates back to 1848 and is a historic landmark and as such is a listed building. I am sorry that the corridor lenghts made it difficult for you to get around. We look forward to seeing you back again.

Best Regards
Sheila

A large group of us with small children stayed at this hotel recently. The bar and restaurant food were nice however portions a little small. The bedrooms were large, they had a separate kitchen area and a sofa pull out bed, however the sofa bed was only suitable for small kids and definitely not adults. The rooms are decorated nicely but could do with a bit of freshening up. The kids club was good but there was a 3 euro charge per child which we didnt think was fair considering we stayed for 3 nights and spent a lot of money over the few days. The town is about a 25 min walk away. The surrounding areas Rosses Point and Strandhill are beautiful and less than a 10 minutes drive away. It is a nice hotel but could improve in some small ways to become a better hotel.

Dear GPOKane,
Thank you for your review and feedback and I appreciate you comments. The kids club requires alot of planning and organising and staffing and so to provide this facility we have to charge these costs. Other hotels build in into the room rate but not all guests have children with them or use the club so we find this a fairer system. We hope to see you back again.

Sheila

We stayed on the 4th of Jan room was nice and spacious but there was rooms with kids beside us and you could hear them from time to time..with us being a young couple we would of liked a room with a bit more quiet.
Wifi was shocking! We couldn't connect on our two phones at all so we used the computer in the lobby.
Food was ok not alot of choice so we more or less paid for an overpriced Chinese!
We got charged for making a phone call to the bus station to one of the calls didn't connect because it was a busy tone and we got charged for that!! We would stay away a bit and this is the first time this has happened for making a call to the bus depo!!shocking!
All this being said we really enjoyed our first stay but this one was a bit of a disappointment.

Dear Murphman,
Thank you for your review. I do apologise for the noisy kids and could have moved you to a quieter location. The wifi is normally good so im not sure what happened at that time, we know its essential for all guests and had the system upgraded last Year. The phone line in you room registered a call made from it and its an automated system, we would have happily refunded the mistake of not getting through. Overall I am glad you enjoyed the hotel and we look forward to seeing you again.

Got the family suite just for the extra space, great room, great beds.

Only thing i would say to the hotel would be update the tv's, the old style box small tv's really make the room seem outdated.

But everything else the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was amazing,
