just back from this hotel it is terrible the sfaff dont have a clue and there was a mix up with the rooms and i never got my room til 12 mid night. I would not advise anyone to stay here its a dump of a place and to big fore the staff to handle it is also full of children you cant get into the pool as its full of children.
the cleaners just lay outside the rooms and do nothing there was dirty cup and plates laying outside the rooms i arrived on fri and left on sunday and they were there for the 2 days.
if you are wise you will not stay in this hotel.

Our short family break was ruined by the incompetence of the staff and management of this hotel. Rude, unfriendly, inadequately trained to do their job, and the majority of them have very poor understanding and communication in English!

The room descriptions of this hotel are very inaccurate, kingsize beds are actually very uncomfortable pull out sofa beds, there is no broadband connection in the rooms, so please anyone who is mad enough to book this hotel be aware that all is not what it seems.

Extortionate pricing for food and drinks breakfast for a family of 2 adults and 2 children €50.

Visa pre-authorisation for a 3 day stay €900 due to the incompetance of the staff operating they system at the reservations desk. I was actually left with no funds to enjoy my holiday as my visa had insufficient funds due to the pre-authorisation error made !!

Did we get an apology or compensation for any of the above, NOT AT ALL.

I am sorry to rant on so much but I would hate for another family to have to go through what we did. My lasting word would be please check out all other options before booking this hotel.

We stayed at the Clarion in October 2007. Our package was a two night stay in a suite (sitting room, bedroom and bathroom). The staff on arrival were friendly. The rooms were modern and spacious. However, the general standard/ appearance of the hotel was quite poor and the 'wear and tear' of heavy traffic was evidenced with stained carpets, furniture etc not only in the room but elsewhere in the hotel. The room was noisy with the air con system and noise from the bar. The food (room service) was only average and over-priced. The bar service in the main bar was exceptionally poor. On the second morning, we queued for breakfast for almost 25 minutes (with a screaming 1 year old) and still were nowhere near the dining room door. We abandoned plans for breakfast and left in sheer frustration. We did complain and were refunded €20, which meant very little given that we left extremely disappointed with our weekend away (as well as extremely hungry!).

I could not recommend this hotel based on our experience. We stayed at the Radisson in Sligo last May and, without doubt, the standard and service provided was exceptional compared to this. My advice is to avoid the Clarion - head for the Radisson instead.

We stayed here for two nights during August this year and couldn't wait to get out of the place. There was a wedding on over the weekend, on top of that, the place was FULL of children. We tried to go the to pool about five times and every time it was jam packed with children..you couldnt even try to swim a lane.

Then the breakfast..we were greeted with a sign on the door with a picture of traffic lights...warning us that there would be queues if we wanted to eat between 9 - 10am...ridiculous! The hotel cannot simply cater for the amount of guests it takes in..the bar is tiny and only one restaurant..each morning we had to try and hunt down a waitress in an effort to get any kid of service at all at our table. Our bedroom was never cleaned before 6pm each day..not to mention the food dishes left outside rooms n the corridors that greeted us on our trips to and from our bedroom..all day every day... To top it all off ringing the reception was another long wait..even booking out stay was a nightmare..I had to ring three times before anyone bothered to answer the phone! I should have seen the warning signs then! I wrote a letter of complaint to the management after we left and never even received a reply.

The icing on the cake was the big queue we had to join in order to check out..it youre looking for a relaxing stay in a 4 star without children..definitely NEVER go to the Clarion Hotel Sligo!!!
