“Great place for lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

Yesterday my sister and I went for lunch in this pub because someone had said it was good. I had my doubts because it was a pub and we weren't wanting alcohol, and I imagined it crowded with blokes. In fact there was a relaxed atmosphere straightaway with inviting sofas and table arrangements. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the food arrived quickly. It was delicious - potato cakes topped with smoked salmon plus a really good salad and a slice of thick soda bread and butter - all for under seven euros. The menu was limited but there were several things that would also have tempted me. We felt very at ease there and were able to have a good ole chat. It'll definitely go there again. The ladies toilet was the only thing that let the place down.

“A great mix of food, craic and music”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

Great spot for lunch with a difference. Good value too! Call in on a Monday night and be treated to a session from the resident local Bluegrass band Rackhouse Pilfer

“Extraordinary”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

Just perfect food every time! A superb atmosphere and superb service McGarrigles really is one of the best places you could ever hope to eat or drink. The only problem is you don't want to leave because you know you can have beautiful food then a few quiet drinks then bang great bands most nights of the week to finish of your night.

“Curiously very good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

My cousin and i went to Mc Garrigles for a couple of drinks as we could not get a decent seat after eating in Hardagons. Laid back would best describe this pub - bad points first , the toilets are cold and primitive. However the ambience is very good . It has a clear glass frontage which makes it great for people watching and on a wet but busy Saturday afternoon there was plenty to see. The very friendly barman was using Spotify through a very good sound system so we got John Lee Hooker through to Brian Auger/Julie Driscoll for the 2 hours we stayed - excellent stuff for a couple of 55 year olds. the beer was fine if predictable and the clientele were a mixture of tourists and shopper's partners waiting for the bag laden. A very nice soujourn.
