“Wonderful Easter Week in Primrose Grange”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2011

Had a great holiday in the picturesque Primrose Grange Guest Wing. Freddie is a marvellous host, charming and helpful. His recommendations for food (Hargadon's in Sligo, Bella Vista in Strandhill, Yeat's Tavern in Drumcliffe) were spot on and we enjoyed great food in all. The house is full of charm, warm, clean, well-stocked and comfortable. We had 4 adults and 3 teenagers in the house for half of the week and had plenty of space for all. The location is beautiful with panoramic views over Ballisodare Bay and Sligo town. The walk up Knocknarea from the carpark beside the house is well worth it for the vista from Strandhill to Rosses Point from the summit. The weather for the week was unseasonably sunny and the attractions of Lough Gill, Lake Isle of Inishfree, Parke's Castle, Glencar Waterfall were resplendent in the sunshine. We swam at Rosses Point beach, and enjoyed the fabulous Eagles Flying outside Ballymote. A wonderful week in a fabulous setting between Sligo and Strandhill. Highly recommended and look forward to going back again soon.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The accomodation was very good, in an excellent location and with a view of the bay in the distance. The house is at the foot of Knocknarea, several kilometers from Strandhill or Sligo for restaurants and other facilities. The guest wing is at one end of this large building with the owners occupying the main house. The accomodation is completely separate and with its own entrance door. The kitchen facilities and two bedrooms are suitable for 4/5 adults. The spacious living room was particularly pleasant and comfortable.
We know Ireland very well but this was our first visit to the Sligo area. We went mainly to explore the incredible neolithic monuments, but with many other sites and places of interest we ran out of time during our five night stay. We hope to return to the Guest Wing of Primrose Grange House very soon!

This is a beautiful house in a stunning location with panoramic views. The accommodation is approximately 5mi from Sligo and approx 4 mi. from Strandhill (easy to get to by taxi). The accommodation itself is also very well presented and clean. I would recommend to all.

We could not have been more impressed with Primrose Grange House. The accommodation itself is clean, modern, spacious and has all the little touches you need to make your stay comfortable.

It also has the benefit of being in the most perfect location for Sligo and the surrounding area. Right between Sligo and Strandhill, you are placed right in the countryside with the convenience of the beach and the town very close indeed. I'd never been to Sligo before but after my trip I would say that it's the area rather than the town that's worth visiting, so there is no point or need to book somewhere more central - besides you can get into Sligo easily enough by taxi for just 10 Euro.

Had the most idyllic couple of days here, would thoroughly recommend it and would love to return myself one day.

Just back from spendng a couple of days in the beautiful Primrose Grange House. The house is beautiful, warm, very spacious and comfortable. We arrived on a sunny summer afternoon, had a bbq in the garden with stunning views. Fred and Saoirse (the owners) had thought of everything to make a stay in their house very enjoyable. The location is ideal for all the amenities in Strandhill and Sligo. Our group ranged in ages from 6 to 75 and we all had a ball - we will be back !!!

5 of us spent three nights at Primrose Grange House in June. We had our 19 year old daughter and our 12 year old son with us as well as our daughter's 18 year old boyfriend. We all agreed that it was our favorite out of the 4 places we stayed in Ireland.

The location is amazing with great views. We enjoyed the hike up Knocknarea and our visit to the Glen.

Freddie had good restaurant suggestions for Sligo and Strandhill. We liked both towns. The seaweed baths in Strandhill were fun.

The house itself is great for a group and we liked having a kitchen and living room.

We can't wait to go back.
