“Great city location and host.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2010

This was the second stop of four night in Ireland. We picked this b and b because it was located in town and had good reviews through this website. For the price it was a good choice. The rooms were clean. The road noise was at a minium for being in the middle of town. The host was very nice and he prepared a good breakfast the next morning.

A double room with bathroom for sole use made the stay very comfortable - a little street noise at w/ends, but nothing bad. The facilities are a little old-fashioned but homely. Liam is delightfully warm and hospitable, and will do favours such as printing up an e-mail for you, or lending a bicycle. Breakfast has good variety, including a continental cheese platter. The location is fairly central. I noticed a number of women travelling on their own, who clearly feel safe here. Something of a unique place, I'd say.

Liam was lovely, however the location was not in my opinion safe. This was like an upgraded hostel and not at all what I expected.

Hi MJGolfer.
I am sorry to read about your disappointment, on your visit to our B&B.
We are in the heart of Sligo, which is part of the old town, the majority of our guests love the old world character & atmosphere of our house, regretfully you did not.
There was an incident on the street, on the night of your stay, which is the first of its kind, experienced by our family, since we opened nearly 60 years ago. As I explained, you would have a better chance of winning the lottery, than an event like this happening. On these grounds, I reject your opinion that the street is unsafe, saying that, time moves on & many things change, some for the good but others not so good.
Safe Holidaying
Liam & Ger.

Thank you Liam, we hade a good time in Sligo and in west ireland!
We played some nice golfcourses, I just sent Liam the names of the courses we wanted to play and he fixed the teetimes etc. Very good!

Nice full Irish breakfast was a good start to the day, that's for sure.

If I wan't to find someting to complain about, it's difficult..... But the curtains could be thicker or darker. The room was quite "sunny" at 5 a.m.....
But the positive thing about that was that all four days we stayed in Sligo the weather was just beautiful. Sun and more sun!

And thank you for the whiskyshots we got from you Liam, it's a gesture we will not forget!!

Even before we arrived Liam assured us that transportation would be available to Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery. Our travels were by train and bus, and adequate public transportation was a must. When we arrived Liam took the time to double check schedules and gave us good recommendations for things to see and places to eat. He directed us to the laundry right next door and even volunteered to pick up our things for us should we not get back in time to collect them ourselves. Our room faced the street, but there was no noise to disturb our sleep. We had use of the internet to catch up on emailing our family. We stayed two nights and had a nicely prepared and tasty breakfast on the first morning. We were leaving quite early the second day, and Liam graciously left cereals and fruits for us then, as well as giving us access to to the refrigerated items. We enjoyed the whole atmosphere of An Cruiscin Lan, from the "receptionist" just inside the door to the goat in the window. Thank you, Liam, for a delightful stay!

A comfortable and cozy bit of Sligo town presented by a host who exemplifies all that is right and good about the people of Eire. Liam has a quiet pride in his family-owned B&B, and is able to direct you to all the sights Sligo has to offer. His accommodations are homey and friendly, matching the style of the town itself. The Irish breakfast was grand, and many thanks for offering the 6am "continental breakfast" access on the morning we left! Everything is just a short walk from the front door, be it the wonderful Guinness and hearty menu of Hargadon Brothers' Pub, the many bookstores, or the swift running Garavogue river that winds its way through the heart of town.
I was visiting Sligo to search my family history, and the excellent Sligo Heritage Society was just around the block to uncover more than I had dreamed to find. Being at Liam's made me feel even more like I was visiting long lost family. Thank you again for a most comfortable stay!

An Cruiscin Lan is a great location for walking around Sligo and for getting out into the countryside by car. Liam did a great job recommending various excursions, places to hear music and to get food.
