“Perfect for Familt”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

Stayed for three nights and had a wonderful stay with my husband & three children aged 8, 4 and 3. The family room was spacious and very clean. The kids loved the pool and the games room. On the Tuesday evening there was a magician and a bouncy castle along with face painting. This was a big hit with all the children. It was nice to see a hotel for once embracing children and their needs. The food in the restaurant and the bar was lovely. Both served quickly and were delicious. A small point is that I would have liked to have seen Pizza on the menu's as my children love to share these. The pool and changing rooms were really clean and the swim suit dryer was really handy. If I had one small complaint I found staff staying different things/ contradictory information throughout the whole stay. Examples include "Use towels from your room for swimming/At the pool no you dont use them you rent them for a euro fee per towel non refundable". "Leave wet towels back to desk at pool reception/ no bring them back to your room and leave for laundry". Also I asked bar staff to recommend a nice restaurant in town. She advised Eastern Balti which was so lovely a place and the food so gorgeous it was unreal!! She advised reception would book a table and taxi for us no problem. Reception said no we wont book it. Only the taxi we will book. The number was looked up after I asked her to look it up and we booked it ourselves. The contadictory information was slighly annoying, and a repeated occurance daily throughout the whole stay!!! I even told reception who jusy said sorry about that. However the stay was enjoyed by my children and we had a lovely time. Would go back again perfect for families and a lovely hotel. Highly recommended!!!

the staff were very friendly in both reception and the restaurant. W e arrived with a wedding party and felt very uncomfortable as we felt like uninvited guests as there seemed to be no where for the wedding guests to sit. The restaurant was very good both in the evening and at breakfast.

Room Tip: book a room in the new part of the hotel

Lovely hotel, lovely staff and the food was amazing.
I am wondering why its only 4 star as I have stayed in some 5 star hotels that are no where near as nice as the hillgrove. The only complaint I have is there was a very noisy woman in the next room, not the hotels fault but I couldn't sleep because of the noise. Told staff in the morning and they said I should have phoned reception about it and they would have told her to keep it down.

Stayed here once again on thurs 12th of July. It was a last minute decision to book and we got a great wee deal! Hotel reception were very pleasent as usual and check in was very efficient! Hotel was busy with it being a bank holiday in northern Ireland but that didn't affect the staffs friendliness or helpfulness! The room was in the older part of the hotel which I'd never stayed in before but the room was very spacious and very comfortable indeed!
The bar was buzzing with people and as usual the staff were very efficient in taking our order and the meal was quick to be served!
The leisure facilities is always my favourite part of the stay and never fails to please! The outdoor hot tub was superb and the facilities wernt over crowded as I thought they may have been as the hotel was busy!
Breakfast was amazing with everything to offer and all great quality! Overall once again we had an amazing stay for great value and I will look forward to my next stay which I have booked for August !!

Hotel staff where so helpful. My partner and I stayed in the new part of hotel, but my brother and his partner was gave a room in the older section of hotel. Which really needs updating. Hotel was great to eat in and spa facilities where lovely. The only thing I can fault is the older style of rooms apart from that our stay was lovely and will definitely be back again in the near future.

Overall a nice hotel, very comfortable and close to the town, we ate in the bar on the second night of our stay and the service was a little slow however it was a busy period. would definitely return. A Very clean and friendly hotel.
