“Unbearable noise from sister hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2008

I booked a deluxe family room at the Westport Plaza hotel based on recommendations from family & friends.

Our allocated family room was across the courtyard from the hotels sister hotel The Castlecourt.

On the first night of our stay the Castlecourt had a wedding & the noise from the band & DJ kept us all awake until 3.30am ... be warned .

Additionally , the deluxe family room which we booked was far from what I would have expected & turned out to be small & cramped.

On a positive note , dinner in the Merlot restaurant was very good , but I would also comment that the selection of food available on the breakfast buffet was below average.

For the mostpart any staff that we dealt with were efficient , polite & knew their job - an asset to any hotel.

  • Liked — Attentive staff, dinner in Merlot restaurant
  • Disliked — room too noisy & far too small.

My wife and I stayed there for three nights recently on our first vist to Westport. We chose it based on previous reviews and it's location in the centre of town.

What can I say except that we haven't stayed in a better Irish hotel and in very few better abroad. The standard of the hotel is excellent, the staff are friendly and helpful and the restaurant is top quality. As a vegetarian I was very pleased to see, in addition to one non-meat option on the nightly menu, a separate vegetarian menu with up to six other options freely available. Quite a rarity in this country!

Apparently, they cannot get 5 star status due to some technicalities but it doesn't matter. For my wife and I, the experience was definitely 5 out of 5.

I visited beautiful Westport with my 3 girlfriends for a 2 night stay and we stayed in the georgous Westport Plaza hotel. It was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in in Ireland.

Staff on reception were really good we had a very late check in and they were very helpful and efficient. Reception area was lovely with nice comfy big sofas.

We had 2 lovely rooms with balconys and lovely bathrooms - loads of towels and hot water. The rooms had everything one could ask for. And the beds oh the beds, really really comfy!

The food was excellent in the hotel - we had breakfast and it was scrumptious - with a wide variety of food and on our second night we had dinner in the hotel and it couldn't be faulted. It was fab as were the staff in the restaurant. The restaurant itself was nice and airy and loads of room.

I can't say anything bad about this hotel. I love it and I will definetly go back. I am looking forward to the Spa opening.

We wanted to go to the west of Ireland for a couple of days to get a break away from the hussle bussle of home and work. There was a special June deal for 2 nights B&B and 1 evening meal for Euro278. The hotel was beautiful, very clean, modern and the staff were most helpful and accommodating. The hotel was full bar 3 rooms so we were lucky to get booked at short notice. The breakfast buffet was excellent and as for the 3 course dinner - it was superb - fillet steak and all the trims, and the Plaza Chocolate Fondant - excellent - highly recommend it. The location is very handy for all local amenities and the plethora of pubs - don't miss out on Matt Molloys and the Porterhouse - great craic and live entertainment every night. Just go and enjoy it!!!

I have nothing but great reviews to give this hotel and its most accommodating staff. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed coming back to the hotel at the end of our busy days. A few small things that needed fixing in our room were addressed within minutes by the manager John, and he made sure we were satisfied and happy. The rooms are spacious, modern, and furnished very nicely. The bar is cozy and again, the staff really nice. Breakfast was included and was absolutely delicious.

The hotel is in a great location in town and really can't be beat. The next time we visit Westport, we will certainly stay at the Westport Plaza Hotel.

My fiance & I recently stayed in the Westport Plaza for a couple of nights, we took advantage of a 2 night b&b and 1 evening meal package and upgraded to the gold experience for all the extra goodies, which were fantastic!

Our room was beautiful, very spacious and spotlessly clean. We could step out onto our own little space on the roof garden which was lovely and well kept. There were all the usual stuff in the room, tea & coffee, iron & board and also TV with free movies, free Internet & air conditioning. The bed was so comfortable it was hard to get up in the mornings & the bathroom was fab with jacuzzi, spacious power shower and lovely toiletries.

The restaurant food was amazing, as was the breakfast, a great variety all round. Staff were very friendly & helpful. The only downside for us was the bar, it was very quiet & empty, but i wouldn't worry about that as there are great pubs in the town and the Castlecourt across the way had a really lively bar, having said that, if your looking for a quiet, relaxing evening the Plaza bar is perfect. Another plus for the hotel is the underground car parking which had plenty of spaces & could be accessed by the lift.

Overall we had a wonderful experience in the Plaza, it was hard to leave this hotel! We would definitely recommend it as a great place to stay in Westport if your looking for a bit of luxury & wow factor. If we were in Westport again i would not hesitate to book the Plaza.

Just back from the Plaza Hotel in Westport and would definitely recommend it. Stayed June Bank Holiday Weekend and only problem was that we booked one night and could not get another night in the hotel. Nothing negitive about this hotel, great rooms - height of luxury, beautiful food, great entertainment. Will definitely stay here again. The second night we stayed in the Westport Woods Hotel but would not recommend it. Other hotels pale in comparison when you have stayed in the Plaza.
