“A jewel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

Stayed for the weekend as attending a wedding locally. The welcome we received was great. Shane and Neville gave us a warm reception and couldn't do enough. The apartment was a great size and clean. We went for dinner and my daughter actually said you could eat the steak with a spoon as it was so tender. The Brie starter was huge! Loved loved loved the food. The next day we went in for a drink and the atmosphere was brilliant . The Helm pulls a great crowd so I would recommend booking. Again thanks to Shane for the great stay!

We had our Christmas party in the helm a group if 15 and couldn't say enough good things about this place. I would recommend it for any group for any occasion as it is laid back and comfortable with the nicest staff that look after you so well. The food was great with an excellent list of choices to suit all involved and we were not rushed and had drinks brought to the table for the night which made it hard to leave! The music and atmosphere was lovely.our apartments were clean and we had loads of room which was ideal for any group. It was excellent value for money but above all the service was something you don't come across everywhere especially dealing with a large group and we were so well looked after with no complaints from anyone. Will definitely be back in the future!!

I stayed in The Helm at the weekend as the boys were doing the Sea2Summit. The Helm was the prefect location. There was 2 couple and 1 single staying in out apartment. The 2 bedrooms up the stairs had a double and a single bed in them both, which would be perfect for hen/ stag party's. Breakfast was included in the deal and they opened early for the boys doing the run. The apartments are kitted out with all the gadgets you need, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher etc. We also ate lunch in the Bar, food is outstanding and very reasonable. I would recommend these apartment s to anyone

Room Tip: I would advise you to ask for a room from 1 to 6 as the others are along he road and can be quiet no...

We traveled as a group to Westport recently and most of us stayed in The Helm.

The entire experience was superb. Great value for money and super friendly owners and staff.

The food was excellent and the craic in the bar at night meant that we never actually left to go to any of the other venues in Westport.

We'll be back.

I had my hen here in July and stayed on a Saturday night with a big group of friends. We were given an excellent price for accommodation and dinner. My friends were delighted. The appartments are basic enough but very clean and have all the amenities you would need. The only downside is they are a little bit noisy as the sound insulation would not be great. The location is in a lovely part of Westport, a little outside the town but overlooking the water, great views. The staff are really friendly and bent over backwards to help us. Nothing was too much trouble. They gave us free bottles of wine with dinner and went above and beyond to ensure we had a brilliant hen. The food was excellent and there were very big portions. The pub/restaurant area is small but nice and cosy and it was always busy, brilliant atmosphere. Very popular with locals I'd say. To top it off I left 2 blazers behind me and only noticed a week later. I rang the guys in the Helm and they posted them for free!!!!! Couldn't believe it. So kind. Thanks a mill to Vinnie and all the guys for my amazing hen night. Would highly recommend, amazing value for money. Go there!

Room Tip: Ask for one with a view over the water

We stayed one night at the Cinnamon Wharf just over the road from the main pub and apartments. Very spacious, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Tv reception was poor and confined to just three channels...good job there was an excellent band on at the Helm. Recommend the Quay Cottage at end of the row to eat. Breakfast was good. Pity we never got to use the complimentary pool and spa at the nearby Carlton. What a lovely little town, stunning scenery and beaches nearby.

We booked a one bedroom apartment but were actually given a two bedroom. Always a bonus. A lovely view over the water. A gorgeous breakfast next morning. Really enjoyed our stay. Only small complaint is tv reception but that is not the fault of the hotel.
