“Great Place to Stay in Westport”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

We really enjoyed our stay at St. Anthony's in July. This B & B has private car-parking and is located in a quiet but central part of the town. We had a spacious room with the luxury of a spa-bath, ideal after a day climbing Croagh Patrick. The bed was extremely comfortable and we enjoyed a good night's sleep on each of the four nights we stayed here. The rooms are spotlessly clean, with the room serviced daily. While staying here it is possible to walk to a different restaurant each evening - Westport has such a great choice of restaurants. The breakfast is excellent and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Westport is always a pleasure to visit and we will return here.

We stayed at St. Anthony's for 3 nights on our recent trip to Ireland. Everything about it was ideal. We loved the location, our room, the breakfast, and the service. Westport is charming and a great place to use as a base for exploring the surrounding area, not to mention the outstanding restaurants and prolific pubs with "trad" (traditional Irish music) every night of the week. St. Anthony's is just a 10-minute walk to the village center, on a side street that is busy with traffic during the day but quiets down very nicely in the evenings, making for a good night's sleep. Perfect!

Situated in the heart of Westport, St Anthonys bed and breakfast lies in the perfect location. Owing to the high evergreen hedge, magnificent beech trees dotted beyond the old wall at the end of the garden and the Carrowbeg river which runs adjacent to the property, this bed and breakfast retains a special feeling of seclusion whilst being close enough to have the town at your fingertips.
After I had noted the cleanliness and attention to detail of my own room and became accustomed to the property(tastefully decorated with a 'less is more' contemporary style), I was introduced to the staff. Bright and bubbly, welcoming and warm, they made me feel at home instantly. Easily approachable and very informative, any questions I had about dining, outdoor activities, cultural landmarks and the history of the town itself were met with enthusiasm.
To top it all off, the breakfast was well cooked, flavorsome and on time(of your choosing).

I highly recommend this fantastic establishment, more a secret getaway than your average bed and breakfast, it really does deserve the title; 'Westports hidden Gem'.

Room Tip: "7 is heaven."

excellent house with all facilities, a spacious bedroom and en suite including spa bath . We were made to feel extremely welcome the minute we arrived and help was on hand to carry our suitcases upstairs. Excellent secure car parking was available while we able to enjoy the lively night life of Westport without any concerns. Breakfast was served by cheerful and obliging staff and we "wanted for nothing". We would certainly use this location again as a touring centre for this stunning region of Ireland.

Excellent, spacious room with a large bath. Upon registering, the hotel informs the guest to treat the St. Anthony as your home and they are not kidding. The living room is comfortable and inviting and the hotel has a large back garden. Breakfast is excellent with a selection of items and an emphasis on healthy ingredients. The heart of Westport is a mere 5 min walk.

Hello thank you for the great review. We are constantly trying to improve the house so it is a work in progress! We try hard with our breakfast and use an award winning butchers from Newport for our meat and also try to give other healthier options as well with fresh orange juice and fruit. We are always happy with feedback so thank you again for the review.

Have just spent three days at St. Anthony's . The friendliness of the staff is second to none. We had a riverside room, and it had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and you chose a time to suit yourself between 8 and 10.

The guest house is just a five minute walk to the centre of Westport, so you are right in the hub, for all the excellent restaurants and bars. Yet you have your own wee oasis of peace and quiet in St Anthony's.

Would recommend to all age groups, suits older people like us, but ideal for families and younger guests too.

Room Tip: We had a river view room, which was in a separate block from main house, very private.

Thank you for the great review. All of us here love getting them and the staff are delighted with great feedback. The riverside rooms are really popular as people love feeling like they are in their own private space. Renovating is on the agenda this year to make them even more special! Thanks again for your review
