“Good wedding hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Attended a wedding here recently. First time in this part of the country and we were blown away by the views from the hotel. First impressions of the hotel are not great, as there is run down buildings on the grounds. Check in was good, up to a huge room right over the ballroom with no views. However, as we were attending the wedding this was not an issue.

Went down to the bar, and that's when things became a little unnerving. The 2 bar men were standing, chatting with their arms folded, chewing gum watching a match! Very few staff wear name badges in this hotel and a manager was walking around with his tie loose and top shirt button undone. Uniforms are an array of mix and match in each department. I was beginning to think that this would be a poor experience, thankfully I was proved wrong.

What the staff lacked in professionalism, they more than made up for in friendliness.
The wedding meal was tasty, although the chef doesn't bother with presentation. The chicken starter was just an unsliced breast of chicken sitting on some lettuce, and the dessert selection consisted of 5 items placed on a plate with no cream, coulis or any type of decoration.

However, once you look past the lack of polish in this hotel, and don't get hung up on that fact, you will really enjoy your stay here. Breakfast the following morning was excellent. It is very much a country hotel, with staff who will look after you well.

Stayed here for 3 nights last week and it was terrific. We stayed in the apartments attached to the hotel and had full access to all the hotel amenities, kids club, pool and restaurant etc.
Some hotels that sell family deals seem to allow standards to slip, but this is not the case in the Mulranny Park - Even with a very good kids buffet in the restaurant, you feel like you are in a Michelin restaurant, the food is terrific.
We stayed there over Halloween and the hotel put on a fantastic party for the kids in one of the function rooms - it was so well done.
Could not recommend this hotel highly enough, the staff are helpful and seem very happy to work there.

The meeting facilities and food are one of the best I have experienced in organizing and attending conferences, as well as the helpfulness of the hotel staff. There are scenic walks, biking routes and beach nearby, superb for not only the conference attendees but family and guests that travel together. Highly recommended for both holidays and meetings, and for people of all ages.

Five hours driving and I would do it again. The quality of the service at this Hotel was outstanding. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Located close to the 'Greenway' provides the option of walking or cycling to Achill or back towards Westport. The hotels caters well for children and quite frankly you would not be aware of their presence in the bar or restaurant. The food was magnificient as was the wine to accompany it. A walk down the Village to a local pub later to sample the stout and music is recommended. I didn' get to play the golf course.

Room Tip: request a sea view

There are very few places to eat in Mulranny. We were amazed with the quality of the food at the bar. It was not crowded - of course it was October, the service was excellent and the price and quality of the food excellent. They have a small but interesting menu. A diner can choose an entree, starter and house wine for 20 euros. I had the local fish entree and goat cheese salad starter. This quiet bar was across the street from Clew's Bay.
