“Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

We stayed here for a wedding and were really blown away by the service and friendly staff. Our room was lovely, spacious and air conditioned! We were booked in for 3 nights but had to leave after two as our daughter back home became ill and was taken into hospital, staff were very sympathetic to our plight and never charged us for the 3rd night, a gesture we very much appreciated. We would definitely make a point to return here!

We recently stayed here for three nights on the Teen Activity break. Hotel was ideal for our family. Accommodation was very spacious and spotlessly clean. Pool area was great and suitable for all the family. Breakfast was really good, hot buffet was fresh and very tasty and there was a good selection of fruit and yogurt also. Bar food was really excellent and very reasonably priced. The staff are this hotel's main asset, all we met were extremely pleasant and friendly. Location is also very good as it's within 5 minutes walk of town via the riverbank. All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay and would hope to return.

Very good hotel located very close to the town centre and close to a lidl supermarket/restaurant. Car park spacious, esp at back. Close to Wesport Country House as well. Room was large with usual facilities like Tv, tea making facilities, trouser press, ironing board and safe and was also en-suite. Windows didn't open that far though and didn't have any air conditioning or temperature control for room and as it was in the high twenties made it very uncomfortable for sleeping. Food in restaurant was very good though room was too warm again and breakfast was fine. Breakfast extends from 7.30am to 11.00am so plently of time. Check out at noon. Would recommend if staying in this part of Co Mayo, though probably better if it's cooler.

Room Tip: Rooms at front are closer to the car park, bit of a walk for extra car parking facilities.

I visited hotel Westport with my family a short while ago and we all thought it was quite average. The town of Westport was lovely and there was lots to do. The hotel was very clean but it needs to be done up as we found some faults in the room such as the furniture was gone out of fashion and the windows wouldn't open very much as it was very warm. The breakfast was the worst I have ever tasted, the hot area was all soggy and there was no organization at all. Apart from those falts it was a very enjoyable stay.

Just back from a lovely few days in the Hotel Westport. We chose to stay for 3 nights instead of the usual 2 as it was a 3 hour drive to get there. The extra night really made a difference as we could really relax and enjoy ourselves. The staff we're possibly the friendliest hotel staff I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Young and old, they were very polite and chatty and made the stay even more enjoyable.
The leisure facilities were fab, we were in the pool everyday.
Big advantage of staying here is that it's only a 5 min walk too the the town and it has it's own entrance to Westport House.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and would like to think I'll make another trip down soon.

My wife and I spent three nights in the Hotel Westport at the end of June. We had heard so much about Westport we were really looking forward to the experience. On our arrival the staff were very nice. Our room was not ready so we explored the town. On our arrival back we were given our room and when we got there that was when our disappointment started. The hotel is listed as a four star hotel. The room was old and while functional was disappointing. On the first night we had the company of a child's cot in the room. I was prepared to put all out of my mind and looked forward to our breakfast the next morning. This is when it all went wrong and continued for the three day stay. The poor girl serving breakfast from a hot server which was too small to function sufficiently for the amount of customers, There was not enough room in the hot server which resulted in the poor girl having to run in and out of the kitchen on numerous occasions to keep the food coming. That said the black and white puddings were hard, the sausages thin and overdone. There was one toaster in the dining room for the customers and it was not toasting the bread the first time which resulted in delays. The bread baskets were not kept filled and the jam and marmalade were kept in two large bowls. You had to scoop the marmalade/jam out of the bowls and put it into smaller bowls. The Yougart was one flavour and was in one large bowl. Bar staff were very friendly. Sorry will not be coming back.

I stayed here with my husband for 3 nights, having walked into, and immediately leaving another hotel in the area.
As other visitors have said, ask for a newly furnished room, as the old rooms are old!
We only had breakfast in the hotel which was extremely good.
The staff were amazing, helpful and friendly.
Room service was fast and efficient and always correct.
The spa was exceptional, offering a fabulous variety of treatments.
The outside seating/smoking area was peaceful and comfortable.
The hotel is so close to the town and the wonderful Westport House and gardens.
This is a typical Irish Hotel. Whilst not Claridges, it is exactly what you want when staying in a rural Irish town. I am looking forward to going back again.
