“Excellent Food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

This is truly a special dining experience in a magical location on the west coast of Ireland. We had the early bird menu which was excellent value for money and every course delightful. Just wish I lived closer so I could make it a regular dining experience. The extensive choice and appatising dishes are a must for anyone visiting Westport.

“Marvelous dinner during the holidays”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Once again, was delighted with the experience. I keep coming back for more. The front was all booked so it was the first time we sat in the back room. I thought it would be loud and uncomfortable but it was quite the contrary. Had attentive service, a nice complementary pate appetizer, the exquisite seafood sampler (OMG) as a first course, and, because unfortunately they had run out of venison, I chose the steak for the first time. It was quite literally the best steak I have had in Ireland. Cooked to perfection, tender and flavourful, it melted in my mouth. Thank you, Quay Cottage!

“Best Restaurant + Still has the magic touch in 2013!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

We had the most wonderful experience of dining in Quay Cottage this January as part of a large group 45+ which can be a logistical nightmare at the best of times! Quay Cottage has always had a fine reputation, somewhere you would always recommend to a friend or a tourist without fail. I had eaten here around 10 years ago and due to living away had not had the chance so i was really looking forward to dining here again whilst hoping it lived up to my previous experience from memories all those years ago! And i am happy to say it has not lost its magic!

It was a real pleasure to personally experience the following -

A warm welcome on arrival, cosy fire, nice lighting and easy unobtrusive background music.
Clean toilets and supplies. Although we were a large party there were about 5 starters and mains on the menu which was a luxury given the large numbers they were catering for.
I had an excellent starter of seafood terrine, some of the others had the chowder and are still talking about the quantity of fish and mussels presented before them which with all the austerity measures is quite a rare experience in restaurants nowadays!
For main dish i chose the fresh Salmon, beautifully cooked with a vegetable and champ base - portion was just right and considering there were different size appetites at the table it got a weightly thumbs up - most of the party at my table ate this and there were clean plates all round! Im not a big dessert person but i did taste the chocolate dessert and had i not cleared my earlier two courses i would have polished this off too. There was plenty of wine and water and most importantly there was a personalised touch to the service which is another rarity these days.
If you are in Westport, go visit and see for yourself!
