Description: An Port Mor Restaurant is run by Chef-Proprietor Frankie Mallon. Our philosophy is to use seasonal, artisan produce from local suppliers. House specialities include pot roasted pigs cheeks with black pudding & apple and vanilla sauce and 21 day dry-aged sirloin. The main emphasis is, however, on local fresh seafood and shellfish, particularly lobster, crab, scallops and langoustines fresh from the west coast of Ireland, especially Clew Bay.

“Top Notch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013 via mobile

What a gem of a place tucked in behind Johnny Morans pub in brewery place. I don't know where to begin: the staff were great with a true knowledge of the menu, the location and layout of this place is intimate yet we ate as a group of 6 and it was perfect. The art on the Walls was mostly local stuff (in between the photos of the Irish president eating there)- I couldn't help myself and bought a lovely print of the local flower shop.

The food: think not far off Michelin star quality, yet very reasonable prices especially the early bird!

The pig's cheeks and pork belly were as good as I've had and I eat Rhodes dishes whenever I see them on the menu.. The surf and turf was epic! Local seafood at it's best and presented like it's a competition with large portions to keep me happy.

The final touch being the home-made lemon liqueur and the little desert sweets, very cute.

I couldn't fault this place and a quick chat with the chef/owner Frankie sealed it, we will all be going back!

“Lovely food, lovely evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

I have eaten here a few times and never had a bad meal. Excellent ingredients, beautifully cooked.

A nice slow meal, we were never rushed and the service was excellent on each occasion.

we have eaten off the main menu and the early bird which is a wonderful idea as it gives yo an opportunity to have top quality food at reasonable prices.

Will def be back.

“Nice place to eat fish”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

An Port Mor is tucked away down a side street off Bridge Street in Westport. The room is long and narrow with a couple of tables in what was probably an old shop front. Tables are quite tight together. Service was attentive and friendly. We ate off the early bird menu on a surprisingly busy Thursday night in early January and enjoyed our meals. Pig cheeks served with very good black pudding was an excellent starter and the goat's cheese was also very nice. Mains were both hake baked with a herb crust, which were perfectly acceptable without scaling any heights. Desserts were a well-executed toffee pudding and a nice caramel creme. Good coffees wrapped things up, All including an OK Pinot Grigio came to EUR78 (not including service), which wasn't bad. We'll go back with the intention of eating off the main menu next time.

“Looking for Fish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Weekend in Westport,(Friday) looking for a fish restaurant.....found this little place by chance up an alleyway. Not opened, but when they saw us peeping in the window, the lady took us in and squeezed a booking in for that night.

Crowded, lovely "happy and friendly" atmosphere, wide age range, comfortable and relaxed.

Food, well fish is fish, but every one cooked to perfection, enjoyed every mouthful. Oh the Pigs cheeks as a starter was a delight, turbet for the main.........full up and no room for dessert.

Presentation and the extra little touches by a very efficient and friendly staff made for a very enjoyable evening. We just had to book for the Sunday night again...More of the same and forget the mash...not needed on our plates.
