“Excellent choice. Will go back there next year.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

The place is spotless. Very clean and tidy. The owners are lovely - we had great chats with them. We took the detached house, and had some of our best breakfasts outside which has a view on Croagh Patrick. This B&B made our trip to Westport and I'm definitely going back to it when I visit next year. I can't recommend it enough!

Room Tip: I highly recommend the detached house if you're a group/family. The rate is very reasonable and...

Have been terribly remiss in not submitting a review sooner. Had not been to Ireland in several years, and found a deal on Travel Zoo. The only hesitation we had was using vouchers for the B&B portions of the trip. One of the choices was Lurgan House, and are we glad they were on the list. What a fantastic experience. Ena and her husband were wonderful and welcoming.
Ena was so sociable and a wonderful hostess. Our grandson had just had his tonsils out in the States, and Ena even offered to let us call to check on him. We declined her kind offer, since we had our i-pad and could e-mail our daughter. We had read about Ena's famous scones, and were not disappointed. The location is perfect. There is a greenway a few minutes from the house which lets you walk into town without staying on the main roads. We had a room in the back of the house which had a lovely view. The room was immaculate and the bed very comfortable. Our only regret is that we were not able to stay longer at Lurgan House.
I really cannot say enough for this wonderful B&B. I wish we could go back again soon.

Ena & her husband were very welcoming and made us feel at home. they would light the fire place for us in the evenings which we enjoyed immensely after a long day if hiking. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The rooms were clean and comfortable and location was great - very peaceful.

An amazing welcome given to two wayward travellers who showed up at the door looking for lodgings for the night!
We were given the 'cabin' outback and it was actually like our own little house with a kitchen and living area and two bedrooms! It was beautiful and Gerard and Ina (owners) too great care to welcome us! It was a great experience and a genuine Irish welcome.
It is a short walk from Westport town, about 15 minutes, though the road is a bit busy, so best not to walk back by night without a lamp or high-vis jacket.

Room Tip: All rooms are great!

We have just got back from a long weekend, staying in the self-catering cottage, next to the B&B. What a lovely setting overlooking Croagh Patrick and within walking distance of Westport. The cottage was fully equiped and comfortable. The hosts were very friendly and could not do enough for us, Ena (the owner) even supplied lovely home-baked scones for our breakfast. Can not recommend this establishment enough - you will not be dissappointed.

Lurgan House is a beautiful B&B. It's quiet and beautifully decorated. Our room was very clean, spacious, and inviting. Our window overlooked Croagh Patrick (which we had hiked earlier in the day). The best part of this B&B is Ena (the owner). She is such a sweet lady who made us feel at home the minute we stepped inside. She gave us good tips on where to eat dinner and directions to our next destination. The breakfast was wonderful as she had just made scones. She even packed us a bag of scones to take with us for later in the day. You cannot ask for a better place to stay or a better proprietor. I highly recommend this B&B. When you travel to Ireland you always hear about the wonderful hospitality......well, Ena encompasses this and so much more. You should definitely stay here!

Room Tip: We had a triple room. It was wonderful.

Arrived first time in "Lurgan House" after a long walk from Sligo in May 2000. Warm welcome was a relief after a long walk. Spent 2 nights and got all the help and support to carry on the walk to Leenaun. Came back second time in August 2000 to show my son and brother in law where I walked and stayed. Got one of the warmest welcome ever - felt like coming home after years. Managed it in 2012 to go there again with wife and son. Again got collected from bus station, got offered tea, sandwich and cake and had lots of talking – again felt being back with my "Irish family from Westport". Lurgan House is my No1 B&B in all the 15 years visiting this lovely country: super service, ask simple and you get help, absolutely lovely accommodation for all kid of trip you do.

Room Tip: all rooms are perfect and quiet, kids can play in the garden or nearby playground
