It was my first visit to Castlebar and I was very lucky to be in Lough Lannagh Holiday Village. It takes 3-5 minutes from Castlebar trail station. I was in lodge rooms but actually the hotel includes also cottages. The rooms can be provided for 1,2,3 persons and couples. The rooms are clean, comfortable, with a hair dryer, TV and warm Irish blankets)). Breakfast included (all delicious!!!)). Lunch and dinner you can prepare yourself in the kitchen which equipped with all necessary for making food. Near the hotel is a picturesque lake with swans, the area disposes with a walk at any time of day. Near the hotel is also tennis court and a playground for children, shops, gym (which is free). Just a few minutes and you can get from the city center. Very attentive and friendly staff especially Paul. I'm not from England or Ireland and my English is not the best but all my questions or requests were not be ignored. All necessary information for visitors is provided immediately.

So this hotel is suitable for all travellers: families, couples and youth.

I recently ran a huge family celebration in Ireland to celebrate my Dad's 90th birthday. He had been training for 2 years prior to climb Croagh Patrick. Amazingly he accomplished that feat on August 3rd! We had over 75 people from the States and another 25 to 30 from Ireland and England based in Castlebar and Westport. About 60 of us stayed at Lough Lannagh Village. We rented 10 cottages and had an amazing time. The staff couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. Personally, running the trip, I felt a little bit of pressure in terms of people being comfortable and enjoying the cottages. There wasn't any response from every single person, young or old that wasn't very positive. The grounds were great. We had an awesome barbecue. It's close to shopping, some pubs and restaurants. Very easy to walk into Castlebar along the lough in the back which was very cool. I'd recommend it to anyone who has a group going over. Thanks to Paul and all the staff!

This review is written as a review of Camping at Lough Lannagh. Visitors who are using a caravan / RV or staying in the village will probably have a different view of the resort!

We arrived at 3 PM on a Saturday having booked camping several months in advance. The space booked was for hard standing (car / caravan etc) with camping space alongside. Despite not being particularly late then we found it VERY difficult to pitch a tent. Despite the fact we had booked long in advance (and having made it clear it was with a family sized tent), most of the pitches were totally unsuitable for camping at all. (see uploaded photos) The staff was pleasant, but we had great difficulty finding anywhere level to pitch a tent. Most of the spaces were too small (see photos) or else not level. We ended up pitching somewhere not level. We managed to get the cooker on a level area (though the pan did move slightly!!), but where the airbeds were was far from level with the result of children rolling (quite literally!) downhill out of bed each night!

Whilst there my wife complained that there was not any toilet roll in ANY of the toilets (male / female or disabled). If you are disabled then bring a torch as the disabled bathroom didn't have any working lights in it. The same went for the chemical toilet disposal room where there was a light which again did not work.
The "playground" advertised on site must be closed or removed (see photo showing taped over sign) though there is an excellent council run playground a couple of minutes from the site.

If you weren't camping then it may be okay as a location, but if you have a tent then please avoid and see the photos that I took!

A little maintenance around the site would be helpful!

Wow, this was a great resort, with picnic table at each house, nearby lake walk, free tennis courts, gym, Wifi, children's playground and lots of space. Lots of the cottages are detached and all are extremely well equipped with hairdryers and TV and en-suite in each room. Staff were extremely efficient and obliging, "that's no problem whatsoever" and we enjoyed privacy and comfort with lots of space for the children to cycle around the private grounds. They also have a hotel style wing with rooms and a restaurant and conference centre which can be accessed by residents.
Any request was met immediately e.g. buckets for rinsing wet suits, DVD player, Radio etc. The price was ultra competitive and this would be a great location for a family reunion within walking distance from the Harlequin and Royal TF Hotels, not to mention GMIT and Castlebar General Hospital.Try to take in a trip to nearby Straide to the Michael Davitt Museum, (wo)manned 7 days a week by very well informed curators. What a find! We did the cycle from Mulranny to Westport and climbed Croagh Patrick, all within quite easy reach of LLV.

Room Tip: Rooms in Sean's house had beds for 13 people usually a double and twin bed in each room, one roo...

This place is by far the best value you will find in all of Castlebar--heck, maybe even all of Ireland!! The rooms are generously sized and clean. Even on the weekends, I have found the location to be very quiet, and there is lots to do from the workout center, to tennis courts, to the nearby lake. I stayed in the main lodge, and there is even a fully stocked kitchen where you can cook your own food--thus saving you lots of money from having to eat out all the time! The breakfast in the morning is GREAT--honestly I think it is the best I've had the whole summer I've been in Ireland! Most importantly, Paul and staff are friendly and go more than out of their way for you--heck, Paul even picked up an adaptor for me on his way to the store so that I could plug in my electronics--now THAT is customer service! Stay here--you won't regret it, I promise! :)

What a great location! Lovely place to stay and really minded by the staff. We were several friends who stayed in some of the cottages at the holiday village - great food, welcoming and caring staff, and a perfect setting for easy access to the town. Would go back anytime! Big thanks to Paul and staff for making it so enjoyable.
