I just returned after a 3 night stay with my wife and 2 daughters (12)(4) . The hotel overall is fine ,the pool is quite good, the games room is ok,the crazy golf is just ok, however the food is a real downfall of this hotel .A child's portion of goujons and chips consisted of 2 goujons and a handful of greasy chips which no amount of red sauce made them edible , the adults dinner wasn't much better, I wouldn't mind the lack of choices but the quality was terrible, however regarding entertainment for kids I found this very good especially the disco , I probably would return for the little one's but I definitely would be eating elsewhere

We were back in Breaffy again this year, the first week of July. Again, got a great welcome, the family room as clean and orderly, but once again, there were not enough towels for five in the room, a problem rectified with a simple request. We had 5 nights for five, B & B for €405!!! A bargain by any standards. There was a Smithwicks promo on also, and it was great to see a pint for 3.50 in a hotel. Breakfast as always was superb. We didn't eat dinner there, instead eating in the town (Castlebar has many great places to eat). Again, plenty for the younger kids to do, not a lot for teenagers though. There were two debs and a wedding on during our stay, and this did not interfere with our enjoyment in any way. We will return again next year!

Room Tip: Ask for a family room on the ground floor, you can access reception across the crazy golf course fro...

Went on a coach tour with Alfa for 4 nights, not a place for the older generation.A car is a must for this hotel on our free day our only means off escape was by expensive taxis.Rooms spotless, but the food terrible, bread with mold on it for breakfast, frozen veg and uncooked fish for evening meal.Vegetable soup as soup of the day, every day.The staff after complaints were made even one member of staff agreed the chefs were rubbish.

Room Tip: As far away from the entertainment as possible which goes on in the bar till midnight.

Beautiful setting, lovely grounds. A car is required to get to pubs n shops. Bed was hard & tv was on the blink. Nice brekkie & very helpful staff. Wifi only in lobby and so slow it was painful. We also had dinner at the hotel hitch was good food and very nice for the money

Room Tip: If you book in the new part be prepared for a maze of steps & doors.

I'd have no hesitation about recommending Breaffy House via this website. The staff were excellent as always, whilst the hotel facilities and grounds are ideal for a relaxing break. I hope it'll not be as long 'til I'm back again at Breaffy, hopefully for longer on the next occasion!

Stayed here in April 2013 for two nights as part of a six night trip. Great location for exploring the region. The hotel room was spacious and very clean, service at the front desk was very helpful and classy. We did eat two meals within the premises which were ok for Irish food, the pub next to the lobby was very inviting and friendly. Did not partake of any spa activities, but our traveling partner was disappointed that the pool closed very early. Try to book a room near the main house as the wings are a long walk to the front desk and pub.

Room Tip: Ask for room close to main house

We are a family of 6; 2 adults, 2 teenage boys and 2 younger boys. The main attractions for us at the hotel were the pool, the gym and the outdoor facilities (in that order). But, the pool was really busy at most times, requiring a queue system (explain that to your young kids!). And over our three day stay, there were three lanes constantly set aside for "lane" swimming leaving the rest of us packed in like sardines in the other half of the pool. Not great! Gym was fine and the five-a-side astro was perfect. We had bar food for dinner on the first night and it was poor. The saving grace was that the staff were really friendly throughout!
