“looking for central hotel and great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

We stayed in the D hotel on Friday for one night. From the moment we arrived the staff were extremely friendly and polite. The room was very spacious and clean. The food was to die for. There was great music in the bar. Breakfast is great value with plenty of choice and hot. The Hotel is in a great location was shopping. We will be returning to the hotel in the near future.

first time visiting Drogheda so had a slight problem finding the hotel and the satnav refused to assist. The lost feeling continued when we arrived at the door of the hotel as a sign said use other door and when we did it was locked but we figured it out in the end. The hotel itself was nice and staff were friendly and helpful, we stayed in the penthouse suite known as the light room and it was nice and spacious with a lovely verandah which gave a beautiful view of the town and viaduct. Food in the restaurant was nice but nothing special and the service was good. To sum up the D is a nice hotel but lacks the finesse and elegance of its sister hotel the G in Galway but i would still recommend it.

Room Tip: try a suite, good deals to be got at this time of year

This hotel is perfectly situated for everybody, with a shopping centre beside it and town centre a few mins walk, loads of free parking and easy access. We stayed midweek so things were quiet, exactly what we wanted maybe because the hotel was not so busy we got extra attention : excellent food and service but whatever the reason, we really enjoyed our stay. rooms were perfect and very clean. Reception very friendly and helpful. Returning soon again.

Room Tip: Overlooking river is nice.

we spent saturday night last in the d hotel.this was the third time we have stayed there and we have never been disappointed with the food, service and the comfortable rooms.the staff from reception through to the bar and restaurant are friendly and professional.they also have a new gastropub attached to the hotel.we had lunch there which was excellent and they have live music at the weekend.we dropped in on sat night but it was packed so we went back to the hotel bar which had a duo playing soft rock music who were called double entendre.they were really good.
the d do really great special offers and i would recommend it especially for couples

stayed here for a saturday night recently -booked the balcony king room - room nice, good size, could do with a paint job as a bit scruffy round the edges but bed was incredibly comfortable - breakfast very good - plenty of everything and was nice and fresh - bar staff really good, made up cocktails not on list and despite bar being full actually remembered orders - good night all in all and good value. All the staff we dealt with were very pleasant. would recommend

Just back from a night at the DHotel. It was a flying visit so didn't get much time in the room. Good standard of hotel. Very professional staff polite but reserved. Breakfast was fine. As other reviewers mentioned tea and coffee wAs in flasks but you just had to ask one of the waiting staff to get your own fresh pot of tea so that was perfect. Thought it was strange to have to order fried egg but was not a problem as again the staff dealt v efficiently with that request. Very comfortable bed and nice view of river with cormorants diving outside my window which was a nice bonus. Down side was the shower. Not too powerful at all which should be a given at this level of hotel. Overall though a very nice hotel

This trip was a surprise for me from my husband for our 1st wedding anniversary. My husband e-mailed the hotel asking if we could have a room with a lovely view. We had confirmation that this was done for us. On arrival there was no wow factor when you walked into the reception area it to me was just a standard 3 star hotel. The staff were very friendly with the exception of the restaurant staff. On arrival to our room again nothing special just a very basic room but we did have a balcony which was thought was great until we looked out to see a half finished building site and the hotel car park which to me isnt a lovely view
The package which was booked was the 50 shades of grey package which my husband though would be fun considering it was for our wedding anniversary. Within this package was a platter for two which we persumed was a dinner for sharing. So you can image our surprise on arrival at the hotel reasurant when we found out the platter was in fact a couple of tiny treats that should of been put in our room which infact we never got until very late into the evening after we had already gone out. Please save your money and do not in the hotel restaurant my husbands starter well what can I say either the mushrooms were off or just not cooked well so that was sent back. The main course came and it did look lovely until I took the first mouthful of the chicken and mashed potatoe which were both stone cold. After speaking to the hotel manager all he would do was offer to reheat my dinner and not replace it. So we left and ended up not having a meal at all that evening. We were not offered any sort of compensation or discount for the upset that all of this caused considering we were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary so with no doubt I WILL Never stay there again

Thedhotel, Manager at The d Hotel Drogheda, responded to this review, October 4, 2012
Many thanks for staying at the d hotel and your feedback received. We were very pleased to offer you a complimentary upgrade to a superior River view room. Your photos posted are slightly disingenuous as the room has large floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river and a balcony whilst overlooking the carpark also overlooks the river and historic town of Drogheda on your left.

You are correct the platter is as described as a sharing platter and is not a dinner. Your comments about our restaurant are also incorrect as our restaurant manager was more than happy to apologise and offer you alternatives dishes however unfortunately a particular guest exchanged nasty comments with another guest at this time.

You are also incorrect that you were not offered any sort of compensation or discount as the gentleman concerned refused to meet with the duty manager on departure and was subsequently emailed a satisfaction survey and a letter from the Senior Duty Manager offering a gesture of goodwill on return.

I hope the above goes some way to explaining the inaccuracies in your review.
