“New management, new broom”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

This hostel is handy if you are visiting the Newgrange and Lowth sites, since the relevant bus goes from 5 minutes walk away. The new managers are making a great effort to upgrade the place without much money. They deserve supporting as they are charming and helpful and have all the right ideas. The breakfast was of the standard of a 4 star guesthouse - I told them they would not be able to afford to keep it up. Definitely the hostel to stay in at Drogheda.

Located only a short distance from Dublin, Spoon and the Stars in Drogheda is a haven. Hannah is a treat - very helpful and lovely. The hostel is warm and friendly, and feels more like a B&B. Drogheda sights are close and Hannah will show you exactly where to find Oliver Plunkett's head on the handy town map. This hostel will hold your bags after you've checked out and offer you an umbrella when it rains. A fantastic experience, one of my favorite stays in Ireland!

Situated a couple of minutes walk from any points of interest in Drogheda whether your looking for tourist attractions, gigs or pups it is ideally located. The period building has been decorated beautifully decorated with great space outside. The couple that run it are what hosteling is all about genuine, funny and great hosts. Price is great too! Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: My favourite is the family size room on the top floor, Or any of them on the top floor have great vi...

Myself and my girlfriend stayed 2 nights 9th,10th June. Drogheda has 1 hostel in the town itself and others near to the town. The hostel is central and close to the majority of nightlife and main/biggest shopping centre Scotch Hall. The staff are a mine of info, and have plenty of literature on local tourist attractions also they will ring and enquire on your behave about transport and many other services. They are genuine and friendly, I would recommend them highly also if in town again I will return. The recession has been tough on many small businesses in Drogheda, but I get the feeling The Spoon and the Stars are here to stay. Smiley Face
