“Pleasant, but not Exceptional”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

The Limerick Stand Hotel is located within 40 of Shannon airport. Upon making my reservations I had requested an early arrival accommodation. Owing to the fact that my flight from NY would bring me in quite early to Ireland. Unfortunately upon arrival I was told that only Aer Lingus pilots and staff are given early accommodations and that we would have to wait until early afternoon in order to check in. While the hotel did hold our luggage while we trotted off to see a nearby attraction, there is nothing like a through start of exhaustion to (negatively) colour your view of a place and the service rendered. In fairness the hotel was tidy, fairly close to centrally located, and the staff was able to make meaningful dining and activity recommendations. Ultimately our stay was functional, not memorable.

Myself & my wife stayed for our second visit here. We have travelled at lot together but by far and
away this hotel has left the deepest impression on us. For comfort, value & food this hotel is exceptional. We have recommended the hotel to friends and they feel the same after their visits. All the staff had a warm welcome and we got quality service. The whole hotel but especially the food & staff will ensure you will revisit time and again.

Room Tip: The suites overlooking the river well worth extra for the views

The most pleasent, poltie and helpful staff i have come across so far in Ireland. The hotel staff literaly could not do enough for us. I booked this hotel for the Limerick your a lady package for my friends birthday. There was five girls in total that went. From when we first arrived to when we left the staff were absolutly amazing. The hotel itself is beaitiful and the rooms imaculate. We had a lovely view out over the river and the castle. The restuarant food was delicious and second to none, the restaurant and bar staff and front desk could not do enough for us. From ensuring we got in our taxi after our dinner to breakfast the next morning, actually carried by a member of staff up to our rooms , as we had a few sore heads from a night on the town. I'm not one for writing reviews but felt i had to share this. I had preconceptions of Limerick before i arrived, but i would go back in a heartbeat. We had a fantastic night and the hotel just topped it off. I would highly reccomend a stay in the Limerick strand and will certainly be back in the furture. Margaret and Party From Dublin .

Room Tip: The view from the higher floors is amazing :-)

Arrived at Limerick Stand hotel today after driving 2.5 hours with a 2 year old to be told the room we booked was not available. We only booked the room in the last few days & even called the hotel to re-confirm the booking and was told everything was ok. Booked through an agent of the hotel & was asked if I was sure i booked correctly. I had to then-produce the AIB Payment on an app on my phone & also the e-mail receipt. My child was clearly distressed in the background but staff were too interested in a wedding party that had just arrived to give us full attention. Was been given a room we definitely didn't want so had to turn around and drive home. Money taken from the account and no idea when a refund will take place. I think its absolutely disgraceful that they didn't even offer us a bottle of wine, a sandwich in the bar, milk for the child. As I also work in the hospitality business I do know that this is not the type of treatment that makes someone want to return.

We have just returned from two nights in the Limerick Strand Hotel. It is a relatively modern stone and glass box in a pleasant and convenient position overlooking the Shannon, but this is really the most enthusiastic thing I can say about it...apart from the staff being very friendly and helpful, which is always very positive. Otherwise it is a featureless and rather bland place that could be in any city anywhere in the world. The room was large with massive, pretty comfortable bed with too heavy a duvet (but then they always are in hotels), decor beige and purple with modern acrylic paintings on the walls. Bathroom had bath and separate shower and, plus point, a good magnifying mirror. All very clean but that's the least you would expect for 4 stars. Breakfast buffet entirely standard and adequate - staff attention was very good. We had dinner in the River Restaurant on the first evening - persuaded by a receptionist that they had the finest chef in Limerick - but wished we hadn't. No atmosphere whatsoever and food was again adequate but did not live up to expectations. There is nothing wrong with this hotel but it has nothing special about it either.

For anyone considering a stay in Limerick, this is an excellent choice of hotel to stay at.
The rooms, staff, facilities, location, bar were without question.

The breakfast, whether continental or traditional definitely hit the mark.
Quiet and clean bedrooms, with friendly staff.

I would not hesitate to stay there again. Definitely better than others, in Limerick, that I have stayed in this year.

Worth every penny/cent.

Room Tip: Try the Junior Suite overlooking the river. View is amazing.
