We have just returned from two nights in the Limerick Strand Hotel. It is a relatively modern stone and glass box in a pleasant and convenient position overlooking the Shannon, but this is really the most enthusiastic thing I can say about it...apart from the staff being very friendly and helpful, which is always very positive. Otherwise it is a featureless and rather bland place that could be in any city anywhere in the world. The room was large with massive, pretty comfortable bed with too heavy a duvet (but then they always are in hotels), decor beige and purple with modern acrylic paintings on the walls. Bathroom had bath and separate shower and, plus point, a good magnifying mirror. All very clean but that's the least you would expect for 4 stars. Breakfast buffet entirely standard and adequate - staff attention was very good. We had dinner in the River Restaurant on the first evening - persuaded by a receptionist that they had the finest chef in Limerick - but wished we hadn't. No atmosphere whatsoever and food was again adequate but did not live up to expectations. There is nothing wrong with this hotel but it has nothing special about it either.

For anyone considering a stay in Limerick, this is an excellent choice of hotel to stay at.
The rooms, staff, facilities, location, bar were without question.

The breakfast, whether continental or traditional definitely hit the mark.
Quiet and clean bedrooms, with friendly staff.

I would not hesitate to stay there again. Definitely better than others, in Limerick, that I have stayed in this year.

Worth every penny/cent.

Room Tip: Try the Junior Suite overlooking the river. View is amazing.

This hotel is right in the heart of Limerick city overlooking the River Shannon, the room I had had a wonderful view being on the 4th floor, this proved to be a very enjoyable stay looked after by attentive well-mannered staff. I will without doubt return to this lovely hotel.

Room Tip: River view is best

As I sit in the breakfast room of the hotel surrounded by what looks like a bomb site of dirty tables, it so 'inspired' me to write this review.
Overall a disappointing stay which is a shame as I was expected great things.
Firstly my room, while it was large and spacious with an extremely comfy bed, I had specifically asked for a quiet room at time of booking. When checking it happened to be same receptionist who had had taken my booking on phone (equally as sour in person as she was on phone) so she was aware of my quiet room request.
My room was actually a connecting room of which I thought ok let's give them benefit of doubt. And the first night there was no one there so great night sleep was had.
Second night was different. Guest was in other room had tv blaring till after 12 and if I had been here on pleasure it wouldn't have been an issue. However it was a working stay and so now I'm exhausted. Hearing another person use bathroom, cough and snore isn't a quiet room!!
Service in bar is painfully slow..food is ok, well presented if a tad expensive.
On checking out no one asked was my stay ok..just took the 200 euro and validated my parking ticket (parking isn't free)
And so now I've been here in the breakfast room surrounded by approx 15 dirty tables and no one coming near me to ask for tea or coffee (too busy chatting by coffee machine in bar area) I'm asking myself would I come back. No I wouldn't (to be honest I should have known it wouldn't be up to my expectations as their sister hotel, The Harbor Hotel in Galway is exactly the same)

Great location..across bridge from the city. Older style but we liked it! Clean, clean...great employees.

Gavin, our waiter in the bar, allowed us to stay after midnight closing to watch the Tennis Open, which we greatly appreciated. Sara, our breakfast waitress, accommodated our sleeping in (because of the late Open hours) and stretched the hours, allowing us an omelette and hot ham. We REALLY appreciated her going the extra effort. Whatever you pay her, is not enough.

Rooms large...electricity a bit tricky. If you don't have key in door, no power...If you don't have switch flipped, the outlets don't work...esp if you are charging a phone overnight. Make sure you bring a converter; no 110V.

Room Tip: We were by elevator..not a problem.

Was on a return visit to this hotel, having stayed there previously and not having had such a good experience (due to noise disruption from a party). What a difference the return visit was. Everything was great and we had a lovely quiet room where we slept soundly! The hotel itself has excellent facilities, is spotlessly clean and has very friendly staff. Will look forward to returning again.

Room Tip: To ensure a good and quiet night's sleep..... ask for a room away from the noise of the hotel ve...
