“Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

Had a wonderful stay - my first time - in the Strand hotel. The young lady at reception was efficient and friendly and made us feel very very welcome. Even allowed us an early check-in!

A great first impression! Lovely large rooms. A perfect location for shopping and seeing the sights of Limerick. Dinner on the night was excellent. Didn't use the spa or have breakfast on this trip. Would definitely stay in the Strand hotel again.

I loved this hotel. The family room was a fantastic size, we were made to feel very welcome and the guy at the front desk was incredibly accomodating. However the first unexpected cost was the extra charge for the car park which I would have expected to be free for stayinhg guests. Also, on checking out I was presented with a 5 euro charge for my daughter's breakfast - she's 3 years old and had half a bowl of rice krispies - dearest cereal I've ever had to purchase!! I would stay in the hotel again definitely but next time I will bring spare change for the hidden extras!

Stayed here for one night for girls reunion... Could not fault the place. We had a balcony suite- well worth the upgrade cost. Massive room beautifully decorated, very classy. Felt like a film star. Enclosed glass balcony with fAntastic views. Amazing deal included dinner, wine and breakfast all of which were great. Couple of tiny niggles- breakfast made to order omelette was a bit strange with fillings just spooned into the middle after cooking rather than cooked within it but still nice enough. Also noise from inconsiderate neighbouring guests- not the hotels fault but still disturbed us for a while. Overall though would say I'd come back in a heartbeat. In fact I might just go and book it now!!

Stayed here with friends for one night. We were very happy with our spacious, comfortable room, and the place was very clean.

The service we received was very good, but we were particularly impressed by our waitress, Kelly, at the restaurant, who was incredibly friendly and efficient, and quick to offer advice or make a jest in good taste.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay here.

We got married in The Strand Hotel just before Christmas. We had the most amazing day. The event organisers were so helpful. We dealt with Olivia and found her brilliant. She was so easy to deal with and no request was too big. On the day itself all the staff were great. The food and service was excellent and so many of our guests commented on it. The decor is beautiful there anyway but it is extra special at Christmas with all the Christmas trees. We had another function the day after the wedding with buffet style food which also was delicious. I'd definitely recommend this hotel for a wedding! The rooms are fab too and reasonably priced if you're considering how much your guests will have to spend.

We only have praise for the Strand Hotel, having recently got married there at Christmas!! we had gone to see an number of venues but there were some aspects of the hotels we did not like, old dated lobby's/reception areas, only ok bedrooms, but the Strand was miles ahead of the competition. from our very first meeting with Aishling Murtagh to our final meeting with Olivia O'Connell everything ran smoothly!! prior to the wedding we had our tasting...& were allowed to try as many options as we wanted, we also got to meet the chef on the night & discuss anything we didnt want or anything we wanted extra. The wedding day itself was amazing, as it was christmas the hotel looked fab with all the christmas trees & the reception room was lovely...the reception room can hold up to 400, but we only had approx 190 at our wedding, yet the reception room was very intimate with a great atmosphere!! the food from the canapes, to the meal to the afters food was excellent, and the service was top notch, especially the cloche service & Sebastian who kept things running very smoothly!! the bridal suite was huge, comfortable & perfect for our first night as a married couple, where we enjoyed our complimentary Champagne & choc strawberries!!
overall we had an amazing wedding day & all our guests have nothing but good things to say about the hotel!! so if your thinking of getting married book the Strand ASAP...before it gets booked up!!

Stayed here when I couldn't find the place I was originally going to stay at. It's right in the middle of town on the river. Easy access and great parking undercover at only 6 euro extra. My room was exceptional and set in a fairly modern building overlooking the river. I was really impressed and would stay there again. I highly recommend this hotel. They have a brilliant pool area and gym etc which I took a look at, but didn't use as I didn't have time.
