“Awesome hotel at a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We were referred to the Limerick City Hotel by a regular guest who raved about the hotel. I was skeptical. It was everything as described and more. Our room was spacious, and looked out on the Shannon. The location is fantastic - very close to Limerick shopping and great Limerick restaurants, and if you turn left at the river, you'll soon be at Dolan's Pub. Which was recommended to us by Ashley, a fantastic asset to the hotel. Everyone was cheerful, professional and knowledgeable. Try McGintey's pub for some great cuisine, although the pub is a bit too noisy for us - it seems to be a happening place, and a great spot to hang out and watch Irish sports. Can't say enough good things about this great hotel, and we will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Shannon river. Make sure you take advantage of their great breakf...

Rooms were of a decent standard expected of a hotel in this price range. We had been travelling all day and were planning to go out in Limerick for dinner and then on to a pub but when the weather took bad decided to stay - what a good call.

The bar was very lively - more like a pub - and we decided to order our evening meal. Very tasty and good size portions - again couldn't be faulted. Icing on the cake was a live band that evening in the bar/restaurant. Could have stayed up most of the night if it wasn't for travelling all day. All in all great night in!

Glad you enjoyed the atmosp[here of our Bar. Our aim is to provide high quality food in vibrant surroundings. Also we were pleased that you found our accomodation good value. Shortly, the bedrooms are undergoing a refurbishment, as our aim is to provide good standards and service at an affordable price. Hopefully, we will have the pleasure of welcoming you again to Limerick City Hotel and McGettigans Bar.

I recently stayed 2 nights in the Limerick City Hotel and found it to be very central for shopping, pubs and walks around the city.
The hotel was very easy to reach by car, parking was an extra cost, €7.50 for 24 hrs.
The rooms were very comfortable. the breakfast was also an extra cost and maybe not worth the €10 as the food was mediocre.

Dear Majella 1952
Thank you for the review of our hotel. Limerick City Hotel is in a wonderful location for visiting the sights of Limerick. I noticed that you availed of the car park discount we have with Henry Street Q-Park. We have found this to be a great advantage to our residents as it offers safe and secure parking. You appear to have enjoyed your stay with us and we greatly appreciate your feedback.
Kind regards,
Anthony Hutchins

We stayed at the Limerick City Hotel on a last-minute break, and really enjoyed our stay. Yes, the rooms are a bit old as mentioned in other reviews, but a major refurbishment is apparently scheduled for year end; for our trip they were all we needed. The staff were very nice and, since we were travelling with a young child and a baby in a cot, kindly gave us one of the largest rooms on our floor.
Location was excellent both for the drive to Clare county (Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty Castle) and to explore Limerick city - the city centre is just a few minutes walk away, we never had to take the car. The view of the Shannon River from our room was very enjoyable.
The only minor inconvenience was parking, since you have to use a separate parking lot that the hotel has an agreement with; it's around the block from the hotel and makes for a long-ish walk with all the luggage (if there was a direct access from parking to hotel, we didn't see it). We did not have breakfast.
Overall, combined with a very good last-minute deal from a booking site, this made for excellent value. We will certainly consider this hotel again for our next visit to Limerick, especially after the renovation.

Dear JudgeJu,
We thank you for taking the time to post a review . We are delighted that you were satisfied with your stay with us. I must apologise that no-one told you that we have a back entrance to the car park, which saves the walk around the block. Hope to welcome you back again in the future.
Kind regards,
Anthony Hutchins

I've been in the hotel four times so far. It used to be a Jury's Inn, now it is no longer part of the company but it is exactly the same as it was. Expect all the amenities in Jury's Inns, same room fittings, cleanliness, etc.
The hotel is in an ideal location, close enough to bars and attractions in Limerick city (the castle is 15-20 minutes away) and O'Connell's Avenue is just a short stroll away.
Here's the thing: if you book with them via their website you can manage to get a great price (€45-55 for a double without breakfast), plus they have a deal with a car park nearby (actually just behind the hotel).
Will definitely go back when I go to Limerick

Room Tip: Book in advance through their website. It really pays off.

Stayed here with my husband on a last minute deal , checked in by a nice receptionist who explained all the usual and off we went to our room on 04th floor

Room was overlooking the front and view was nice over Shannon, room was basic, just wish they were more modern, but for price you pay it was fine
Mcgettigans bar down stairs is nice and has good atmosphere , bar staff good and efficient.
Breakfast nice but not self service, lady( not in chef whites) behind buffet gives you the hot food, maybe so you won't take a extra sausage !!! , juice was watered down a lot in machine, very stuffy room first thing in morning, they should open doors or put on some air con.

Hotel is in perfect location and for price you will pay it's worth it,

Dear DuKeg 76
your feedback from your stay with us is immensely appreciated. It is through valued comments that we can achieve higher standards of customer satisfaction. We are pleased to announce that before the end of the year we are starting a refurbishment programme on our bedrooms and dining area. However, it will still be our aim to provide good value for money accomodation.
Kind regards,
Anthony Hutchins

We stayed here for one night in july 2014 and we absolutely loved it. We were able to park our rental car in the hotel's partner parking garage for a discounted price. The car park was very easy to find and right beside the hotel. The check-in was smooth and the employee was very professional. As for the room, it was huge, very clean, the beds were very comfortable and the wifi was very fast. The bathroom and shower were both spacious, and you don't feel like you are showering in a tiny closet. The location was great and the hotel is situated right by the river, which allows for a great view if your room is facing that side. We also tried the hotel's restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and my mother couldn't stop raving about the burger she had. I would most definitely recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Limerick. You will not be disappointed!
