“Art for the Elite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

An incredible collection of paintings etc., but sadly depicting the sumptuary of a bygone age wherein only the privileged few, could partake.

“Free Entry and lovely landscapes”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

I enjoyed the art which was all landscapes, Paul Henry, etc. A small collection but worth a visit. A lovely cafe for lunch or coffee and cake. The coffee was not very good but the cakes looked great.

“Always interesting exhibitions”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

I've been visiting LCGA for many years now and I always find something to engage me here. The recent re-development of the gallery has greatly enhanced the visitor experience with the addition of an arts and craft area and cafe, and the overhaul of the permanent collection gallery. In the past the permanent collection had been displayed in the 'Salon' style with paintings filling the walls from top to bottom, which is interesting in itself and allows for more paintings to be displayed at any one time. However, after the re-development the permanent collection is now exhibited in a more modern way with paintings at eye level and with the paintings displayed on a rotating basis under a variety of themes allowing for new ways of appreciating the collection. The rest of the gallery is given over to contemporary and avant garde exhibitions which are always thought-provoking and engaging. The gallery is a serene gem in the middle of the city and if you need them, the friendly staff are always at hand. Well worth a visit.

“Lovely bright free gallery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Very contemporary space in Limerick City right by the People's Park. The recent redevelopment has resulted in a bright modern set of spaces, with both contemporary and collection exhibitions and a lovely new cafe. Worth dropping into every visit to see what's on, and especially in April-June every "even" year for eva International art biennial.

“Something to kill the hours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

We spent four hours in LCGA instead of the planned 30 minutes. Was fantastic and really informative. Odd mix of formal collection and avant garde work but really worth seeing.
