“Great Value for Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

I use this hotel on a regular bases ( business)
Pros- Friendly staff-Great value for money-the Indian food is good- B&B - breakfast very good selection - fully operational at 7 am- good location from the city- rooms very good.

Cons- Leisure center has no pool-the bar is a bit dark and dated when been used as the hotel restaurant-- price of a std glass of wine at €6 is expensive.
TV in some rooms very dated and selection of channels poor -WiFi poor in rooms .

JG

Room Tip: If the hotel is not busy ask for a leisure suite ( very nice)

Dear Joeghighbury9,
Thanks for giving your feedback and your regular custom.

We are making continuous improvements across the hotel, including our TV sets and channel selection so please except our apologies. We recently upgraded our free, unlimited WiFi so you should see a noticeable improvement the next time you stay.

We aim to offer exceptional value for money in both accommodation and food and our wine range now starts from €5.20 per glass.

Once again, thanks for your feedback and recommendation and I look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Limerick,

Kind Regards,
Dermot Kelly,
General Manager.

Located on the outskirts of Limerick, it's a long walk to the city centre but it on a bus route.
Hotel staff friendly, the hotel is clean but rooms are getting dated. Breakfast was ok but staff not very organised or professional. I would stay agin.

Dear Rob O,
Thanks for taking the time to post a review of the hotel.

We are in the process of refurbishing our rooms in stages so please accept our apologies if the room we provided was not to your satisfaction.

We have a structured staff training programme in place for quite a while and customer service is, needless to say, of paramount importance to us. I will investigate your comments further on this side and if there's anything specific you'd like to add, please feel free to contact me directly on 061 487 487 or dermot.kelly 'at' southcourthotel.com.

I look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future,

This hotel is perfect for any one going to a Munster rugby game fantastic prices and a good clean hotel. With the park and ride outside the door and a great atmosphere. When we arrived at the hotel we had booked Bed breakfast and evening meal I asked the receptionist could we eat early she said there was no problem and to have what ever we wanted at the carvery. The food was excellent and plentiful. A good clean hotel, if there was anything I would change it wood be the heat in the spotlessly clean hotel rooms. The rooms were too warm but that was the only blemish and indeed a small hitch.

This hotel badly needs some investment & management. The staff are very nice and helpful but totally disorganised. There seems to be little supervision. The thing that struck me was the public bathrooms were filthy. There was also a strong smell of sewer near the bar.
I had a bowl of soup and some bread for lunch in the bar. The vegetable soup was watery reconstituted packet soup - yuch! Coffee was so bad I left the hotel to buy some nearby.
I have stayed here before an didn't like it and its actually got worse!

we stayed at this hotel recently we found staff to be very friendly and helpful as we had our three small children with us this was much appreciated.the room was quite spacious we had a double and two singles and a travel cot(hotels).the bathroom was a bit tight as we often had all five in there brushing teeth etc
we ate in the bar that night but as the cork clare match was on the carvery from lunch was still running but there was not much choice we decided to stay as it would be too much hassle going into town looking for somewhere suitable with the kids and we all had turkey which was quite dry at this stage but again it did the job if we were to stay here again which we would do we would have our evening meal in town.
a bit of noise during the night which is never ideal but to be expected with a city hotel,
we also had breakfast and found it to be very enjoyable except there was no yougherts and the toaster was not working
we knew the hotel had no pool but it would be great for families if they could provide you with access to somewhere nearby with a discount or complimentry maybe!
overall a good experienceand would recommend this hotel
we also had a pigsback voucher which made this trip very good value for money!

Dear Michelle C,
Thank you for reviewing us and we're glad you and your family enjoyed your stay with us.

Regarding your breakfast, a fuse went, rendering the toaster out of service for a period and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

With respect to our leisure facilities, all guests have complimentary access to our gym and we will be discussing the possibility of arranging discounted rates for guests at a local swimming pool. We will update our website when this arrangement is in place.

Once again, thanks for choosing to stay at the South Court Hotel and I hope to welcome you and your family back in the not too distant future,

Warm Regards,
Dermot Kelly,
General Manager

Firstly there is no swimming pool or spa. The staff were very helpful and courteous. We had a family room containing a double and two singles also a settee and table and chairs - it was quite spacious. Decor nothing brilliant but it was clean and tidy. Breakfast was a nightmare it was buffet style and I had to keep asking them to fill up on rashers, eggs sausages etc.The breakfast content was also not as good as it was the previous year as they also offered scones and pastries.
Finally when I first booked the rooms the person I spoke to took the booking and didnt send a confirmation-I had to call and request this twice and when it did come all the details were wrong. I had booked 3 rooms through the hotel and ended up cancelling 2 and booking them through booking.com and trip advisor as they were cheaper!!

No matter what some sites may say this is not a 3 star hotel it is quite simply awful! arrived at 5 to check in to our room waited 10 mins at the 'reception table' for someone to appear, nobody did, eventually my boyfriend went into the bar to look for help at this time a member of staff walked out asked my name handed me a key and walked off. we went up to our room which was at the end of the hall beside an open fire escape and had to bat away several flys to open the door. The room was old fashioned and smelt awful, although we booked a double room for two adults we got two twin beds that were not even put together, the rooms overheat very quickly and its quite uncomfortable. The first morning we were woken up at 9 with cleaners at the door looking for wet towels for no reason (a situation that reoccured the second morning). The decor of the hotel is old and dirty and one of the steps on the stairs is even broken which clearly noone bothers to fix. The second night we were in a rush and made the mistake of eating in the hotel bar. It started off promising out starters arrrived in ten minutes, but 1 hour later with the starter plates still on the table there was no sign of the food we went to the bar and explained we had tickets to a show and had to leave soon to which they replied 'oh your finished your starters?', the food arrived and was hardly edible had clearly been heated in the microwave. The service was just as bad as the food. During our 2 day stay we over heard two seperate groups insisting on room changes and i am not suprised. This hotel is not located near enough to walk to town. Avoid at all costs!!
