“excellent stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

Just had a weekend stay at the Maldron Hotel in Limerick with the wife and kids, although the location doesn't give the best of views (there is a halting site almost opposite) I wouldn't want this to dissuade you in any way. Staff were excellent throughout from reception to waitering and leisure club people all friendly and attentive. The hotel is modern and room was good, clean with plenty of space and the package we had included bed, excellent quality all you can eat breakfast, generous and great quality evening meals and free access to the pool and even a free pass to a jungle gym down the road!!! a secure under cover car park is also available which was told to us at reception but we didn't avail of it, ideally located for shops and university everything is only a ten minute drive away. Excellent value the meals & pool alone would have probably cost the package price we paid so effectively the room is free!!! would consider an away trip here again without hesitation for quality & value.

Room Tip: be nice to reception they are very accomodating

Ok, location is not great. But for a clean bed and use of a gym it's a very good deal.

The staff were helpful, the 5 euro breakfast was more than adequate and the room was clean, comfortable and warm.

Only concerns were the noise from deliveries to a Aldi next door and the lack of a safe in the rooms.

For business it's great, for leisure you really need access to a car as the bus service is irregular.

Room Tip: Ask for a room around 237 to 249. Internal facing a courtyard with a small balcony.

I had a fab stay in The Maldron Hotel in Saturday 28th December. We had two rooms next door to each other as we were four friends staying for the night Check in, room, dinner and leisure centre all excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel for it's frienly and helpful staff. We all had a fab time and the price was excellent for a Saturday night.

Dropped in here once a week over the past 6 weeks for lunch. Tried several dishes from the lunch menu available. All the dishes I tried were mouth watering delicious and were more than I could manage to eat the servings were so generous. It was Easy to see why I noticed familiar faces returning each time I visited the Maldron for lunch. The staff are very attentive and like to ensure that the customer is happy and satisfied during their visit. When in Limerick again I / we will ensure that we will go to the Maldron Hotel In Roxboro for our meals. There is ample easy parking in the car park and it is just 2 minutes drive from the bypass or from the Waterford / Tipperary road.

Stayed one night, last August. Booked on line, asked for a room for two adults and two children. Really large room, enough bedding for everyone. Clean and fresh, but not brand new. Did not get to use the pool but heard others say it was nice.
Got food from the Bar, at 8 pm -Fries and Chicken for the children to take back to the room, given all the supplies I needed so did not have to make a return trip, thank you Eoin. Yes, there were other families down our corridor, noisy in the morning, but I have children and they are not always silent! Breakfast was well serviced and pleasent, but not gourmet.
The location is certainly interesting - the goats across the road did provide entertainment for the family as well as some of the goings on with the neighbors, but never felt unsafe.
A short taxi ride to anywhere in the city for night life, and if you have a drink or two it is the only way to go. Will certainly stay again, it was a great deal

Room Tip: Look on line for good deals

My partner and I stayed in this hotel for what I thought would be a great night away but unfortunately it was not. From check-in to check-out I have never stayed in a worse hotel.

Check in was rushed with no information given to us, unless we asked and the young girl was unfriendly.

The steak with dinner was cooked excellently. However, the pepper sauce was cold when we received it and when we got the waitress to replace it for us she never once said sorry, she just took it off the table and returned it hot moments later. Once we ate our meal, it was 10-15 minutes before the waitress returned to collect our dishes and replace our drinks. Might I add the bar was not busy, it was so quiet even the chef was able to come out to the bar and have a "chat" with the waitress. The waitress asked about dessert, on which we responded we were still deciding. She never came back to check if we wanted anything, instead I had to go to her and her manor was less then happy to serve me.

On check out, the receptionist never said have a good day, thank you, do you need help with your luggage or did you enjoy your stay. All comments which I feel are very important on check-out.

I have been staying here for 1 or 2 nights during the last 5 weeks. Rooms are very good with strong wifi signal throught. Attentitive staff with fast check in. Food good is good and is reasonably proced. A good night's rest enjoyed. Is a bit out of the city but easy access to all routes. Very handy for me thank you!
