Let me preface this review by explaining that it is being written on behalf of my son, Michael, who had the pleasure of staying at Bridge View B&B for a month and a half while recuperating from a serious auto accident he suffered while visiting Ireland for the first time. Prior to his release from St Luke’s Hospital, he was advised by his medical team to remain in Kilkenny so that he could return to the hospital for routine and periodic scans and tests. Several nurses provided him with lodging suggestions and he chose Bridge View because of its proximity to everything wonderful that Kilkenny has to offer.
The inn was fabulous, its location could not possibly have been any better, the room and bedding were very comfortable, the breakfasts were plentiful and delicious, and the other guests were absolutely delightful. But what made Bridge View an absolute gem is Eimer, the hostess, who is one of the most amazing and charming women that Michael has ever met. Eimer, along with her sisters, treated him like a member of her family and truly made him feel at home; he will always appreciate the kindness and hospitality that she showed towards him.
Although we have not met, I spoke with Eimer on the telephone prior to Michael’s stay and can tell you that she went (way, way) above and beyond to accommodate my son. I, too, am forever in her debt and look forward to meeting her in the future when my husband and I travel to Kilkenny, home of what has to be the kindest, friendliest, loveliest people in all of Ireland.
One cannot go wrong staying at Bridge View B&B – the location alone is worth staying for. It’s located just across the bridge from Kilkenny Castle and around the corner from the heart of town, with its myriad restaurants, pubs, and shops. Matt the Millers, with its great music and food and friendly staff, is located just down the street. The PERFECT B&B in the most perfect location in the absolutely most perfect village that you can imagine. (Although I did not have the pleasure of staying at Bridge View during my brief visit to Kilkenny to visit my son following his accident, I was able to wander its streets for a couple of evenings and can assure you that it is a magical place!!!)
