Family Stay - well decorated spotless room. Very friendly and accommodating staff and an excellent choice of fruit, yogurt, cereal, baking and juice for breakfast. Would definitely return in the future

Having done the loop around Ireland, the Rosquil house was our last stop before continuing to the Dublin airport to catch our flight back to the States in the morning. We stayed at two hotels during our trip, and 6 B&Bs. Rosquil was our favorite B&B, and rivaled our 4-star hotel stays. Pros: Run by a hugely accommodating couple, great breakfast, and nice rooms for the whole package. Cons: The only possible strike I can think of is location. It's about a 15-minute walk to the city center, which is perhaps longer than some may like -- but, if you're OK with putting on your walking shoes, everything was easy to get to and Kilkenny is a great town (go here over Cork). If I'm ever back in Kilkenny, I'll be staying at the Rosquil House.

We arrived Dublin at 7:30 am and immediately grabbed our car and headed to Kilkenny for our first visit to Ireland. We couldn't have asked for a better place to start the trip - Rosquil house is a lovely B&B and the hosts, Rhoda and Phil, were extremely welcoming and helpful. We arrived at Rosquil house before 11:00 and by chance our room was nearly ready for us. Rhoda told us it would just be a few minutes and asked us to wait in the lounge, where she brought us tea and home-made fruit bread to tide us over (since we'd had nothing to eat since arriving). The room was perfect - clean, comfortable and airy, just at the top of the stairs, with a private bath. A nice touch was the electric tea set in the room, complete with biscuits. The one negative for us was the bed - it was far too hard for our tastes, but then we found the beds at all our B&B's to be a bit hard. It must be the way the Irish prefer them! Breakfast was enormous and delicious - Rhoda spent many years as a private catering in New York City, so the food at Rosquil House is first class and was the best of our stay (though ALL our breakfasts were quite good). Try the full "Irish Fry" at least once - you won't be hungry until dinner! Phil and Rhoda gave us recommendations on what to see and where to eat during our stay. The B&B is a very nice and easy walk into the main city center of Kilkenny. We spent two nights and would have loved to stay longer. We will definitely be back to Kilkenny and Rosquil House!

Room Tip: You might ask them about the beds in the rooms - our bed was quite hard, but maybe they have somethi...

We have recently returned from a ten day trip of Ireland, the first 3 nights we spent were at the Rosquil, We chose to stay in Kilkenny for the weekend to celebrate both our birthdays. My wife said as we enjoyed our last visit to the city so much, it would be nice to return. The Rosquil is only 15 minuet walk into the city center which boasts a beautiful castle and gardens, also many nice places to eat. Our host Rhoda was very warm and charming, her homemade preserves for breakfast are delicious!!. We would recommend you stay here if you visit Kilkenny, which is one of our favorite places in Ireland.

Rosquil House was 'purpose built' as a B&B six years ago, but it seems even newer than that. It is immaculate, the rooms nice sized, and the attention to detail was astonishing. Owner Phil loves to cook, and his son is a professional chef. Phil and Rhoda purchase local produce, she makes the marmalade herself, and the breakfast eggs come from nearby. On request, chocolate lab Lottie will be allowed to walk by for a scratch behind the ears.

We are very glad to have stayed here

We stayed at eight B&Bs in our 16 days in Ireland and breakfast at the Rosquil House was definitely the best. Everything was just a bit better - the fruit a little fresher, the selection a bit more extensive. When I requested an omelette, Phil asked exactly how did I like my omelette cooked. I answered very, very slightly brown and that is exactly how it came. I also liked that we did not have to pick a time for breakfast.

Our room was quite large and extremely clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also large and ours had a bath. The hot water was plentiful with very good pressure. Coffee, tea, and biscuits were available in the room.

Our hosts, Phil and Rhoda, were warm and very helpful with suggestions for sites to see and places to eat. Phil always inquired about the places we visited and dined at, asking how we enjoyed them. Seemed as if he was trying to keep his "knowledge base" up to date. As we were checking out Phil asked where we were headed next and he offered an alternate driving route which took us over the mountains. The drive was magnificent. Something we would have missed without his suggestion.
