“Lived up to expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

This was our first night in Ireland and having driven slightly jet-lagged from Dublin, we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Yvonne was a fount of knowledge and quickly pointed us in the right direction. She was able to get us into a room early, even when we showed up at 10:30 in the morning. She provided a great map and directions as well as helpful hints on where to eat and drink so we were able to put in a full day of sightseeing right off the bat. The room was comfortable and clean, putting us in the perfect frame of mind for beginning our vacation.

We have just returned from a trip to Ireland where we spent one night at Butler Court. We were warmly welcomed by Yvonne and shown to our room upstairs which had everything we needed for a comfortable night's rest. Comfortable double bed, clean flooring, decently sized bathroom with lovely and fragrant bath products. Breakfast was a selection of cereals, fruit, brown bread and yoghurt left on the table for us to eat in our own time the following morning. The location was perfect - right in the heart of town but set back a little from the street so we heard no traffic noise at all. For the price, it was a terrific stay. Highly recommended.

After some less than ideal rooms during our Ireland vacation, we were delighted to check in to the Butler Court in an ideal location in Kilkenny. Yvonne was a very pleasant and gracious hostess who was a fount of information about the area. The room was clean, spacious and tastefully decorated with an especially nice bathroom. The in room continental breakfast was extensive and perfectly adequate unless you're the sort of person who needs to stuff their face with a greasy breakfast every day.
The only problem was occasional noise from the late-night drunks returning to their rooms in the courtyard or street. Bring your earplugs.
I would definitely recommend this location.

This property was perfect for our family of four. The room was very clean, the bathroom was large and had a nice big shower. The in-room continental breakfast was perfect for the morning- fruit, cereal, tea/coffee, bread, jam, yogurt, orange juice. The owners are helpful and very friendly. They gave us a nice overview of the town and made some suggestions for us.

John checked is in and immediately showed us where to park and got us checked in. He also marked really good restaurant and pub recommendations and gave us a quick and helpful overview of the city on the map. The rooms are nice and clean. Breakfast is basic, continental, in-room, which we expected. The location is amazing in the heart of the city! Easy to walk to everything.

We arrived at Butler Court late in the afternoon on August 29. John checked us in and showed us everything we needed to know - how to unlock the gate, etc. We were lucky to find a temporary parking spot in front and we unloaded our luggage into our nice second-story room. John directed me to the parking garage where I was very eager to store our rental car for the next full day. The parking is gratis. Yvonne, who is a super host, told us about all of the good eating and drinking spots as well as the sights to see. Breakfast is supplied to our room the night before. I was a bit leery about this, but it turned out well - good juice, coffee, cereals, breads, etc. Our room was a little stark, but it was a good value and a perfect location.

i arrived at the Butler Court after traveling in Ireland for 2 weeks. I had stayed in some hotel rooms and other bed & breakfasts but when I got to the entrance to Butler Court I felt like I had walked into a wonderful oasis...a really neat courtyard, which was very inviting. Although I was only blocks away from the castle and the shopping area, once I stepped in here there was such a peace and a relaxed feeling. Yvonne met me as soon as I arrived and every review I had read about her and Butler Court is true! She went out of her way to make me feel at home and enlighten me on where to go and what to see. And Bob the dog just added to the ambience! My room was immaculate and my bed very comfortable and I loved being on the ground floor. It was a really neat experience. Do yourself a favor and stay here...you won't be disappointed. Irish charm to the max!

Room Tip: The rooms are newly remodeled...immaculate and very inviting.
