Butler Court is a sweet oasis! John and Yvonne are delightful hosts, and their attention to detail in the accommodations is obvious. We particularly liked the do-it-yourself breakfast set up in the room - a nice change from cooked breakfasts on a three week trip.

This is a great place to stay if you want something centrally located, clean, comfy and reasonably priced. If you have a car, the hotel validates for parking which is a plus.
The parking garage is about a two-three block walk from the hotel.
We opted to park first as we only had one bag each and since there wasn’t any available parking right in front (and it was our very first time driving on the left, so it was just easier to head straight for the garage).
We showed up a bit early due to just flying in that morning, but the housekeeper rang the owner, John, and told us he’d be by in a few minutes. John came running, literally, in the rain, to check us in. He was so nice to let us check in early and to have hurried to do so. He gave us a detailed map of the town along with food and live music recommendations. He showed us to our room, showed us our in-room breakfast set up (on the desk and in the mini fridge) and left us in good spirits.
The breakfast included packaged brown bread, mini jars of jam, butter, cereals, fresh seasonal fruit (apple, plum, pear, banana and clementine), yogurt, milk, fresh squeezed bottled orange juice, milk, tea and coffee.
The room was a decent size as was the bathroom. Everything was very clean. The king bed was firm and very comfortable. The water pressure was good. There is a heating unit in the bathroom above the door to the left (there’s a cord hanging down to pull – the unit looks a bit like a fan) which worked very well to keep the bathroom at a comfortable temperature. The heat in the room was very good as well. Toiletries (soap, shampoo and shower gel) were provided and were a nice touch as well as the hair dryer. The free wi-fi worked very well. The way the place is designed, we did hear people in the courtyard as they passed by and some light traffic, but nothing major. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay and it was a great place to start our tour of Ireland.

As we pulled up, Yvonne was there to greet us, help us with logistics of luggage, car park, and operation of courtyard gate and room keys. This was so appreciated after a difficult day on Irish roads with a balky navigation system. Butler Court is an easy walk away from the Castle, Design Center, and the main street of Kilkenney. Yvonne gave helpful information about attractions, eating and entertainment is town. Rooms are comfortable, of adequate size, and equipped with comfortable beds a small refrigerrator, and a large wardrobe. Bathrooms had a shower and were immaculate. Everything for a continental breakfast was already in our room. Fruit, cold cereal, milk, juice and yogurt comprised breakfast.

My husband and I really enjoyed our two night stay at the Butler Court. After a bit of a difficult time finding the place I walked in and felt like I was walking into a friends B&B. Yvonne and John were some of the friendliest people I've ever met and Bob the dog was a welcome sight for two people who were missing their own dog. The rooms were cozy and comfortable and the location was perfect. We knew only continental breakfast was offered so we weren't disappointed but did miss a hot breakfast after two days. Although there were plenty of options nearby if continental isn't your thing. Don't let that stop you from booking as this B&B's hospitality and location greatly make up for not having a hot breakfast. They have a brochure with a really easy map of the city, restaurant, pub, and trad music recommendations which really came in handy.

Loving it, writing whilst lying in a fabulous bed in an immaculate room. Could not recommend it more highly.
We had no idea where we would stay but liked the appearance from the street. John welcomed us and could not have been more helpful.

This was probably the nicest B&B we stayed at in our 2 weeks. The room was large and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was large as well, plenty of room for all our things. Breakfast was in our room already when we got there which made for a nice, quiet morning. Yvonne and John were great hosts, very welcoming and friendly. They let us make a local (to Dublin) call free of charge to confirm our next night's stay. I would recommend.
