O'Haras brew the single best Irish stout on the market. All of their beers are on tap here (and some others), along with a large selection of international bottled beers to rival any of the Dublin Craft beer bars. All of them are reasonably priced and the draft beers, despite being head and shoulders above the macro stuff served elsewhere, are similarly priced.
Lots of seating with candles placed on tables and the whole place smells of new clean wood. There is a heated smoking area outside and the place was busy even on a Thursday night. Music is kept at a volume that doesn't prevent conversation and the barman is efficient and friendly.
They seem to have a nice selection of events during the week and music at the weekend; however when we came back on Friday night they had a fairly tone deaf drag act on (I think it may have been an LGBT event night, so fair enough) and the place was a bit packed for our liking.
If I lived in Kilkenny I think I'd definitely make this place my local, and any tourist visit that misses it is missing something really special.
