“Traditional pub with friendly staff and great live music”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

My wife and I stopped in for a Smithwick's. We were greeted promptly by a friendly bartender and seated immediately. There was a live duo paying guitar, piccolo and singing traditional Irish music. Service was great, music was great, the place was huge and not very crowded (7pm on a Tuesday night), prices seemed reasonable (€4 for a pint).

Cool spot that we'd come back to.

Love this place. Liked it so well we went back the next night! Food is excellent, waitstaff was very friendly. The live music was very enjoyable both nights. Easy access and location.

“Rock 'n Roll, Baby!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

We walked in just as The Rob Strong Band was starting up. Little did we know what we were getting into. Rob, his drummer and base guitarist livened up the town with some good old rock and roll. Rob had a voice that reached way down in his belly and roared past the bulges in his neck. The bar was filled with regulars, almost exclusively men. One man, who we termed, The Mayor, held court with everyone there and a short squat guy with a tee shirt that read, “Save the earth, it’s the only one with beer” took it upon himself to be the PR manager for the band, passing around CD’s, making adjustments to the equipment and such. A guy named Paul did a set of about 3 songs in a Karaoke kind of way. The band didn’t seem to mind overly. As a whole, they played about 3 hours without a break. We ended the night dancing before heading back to the bed and breakfast. Although we would have been happy with Trad music, this sure was a lot of fun and a little break from the usual pub music. Can't say anything bad about the Guinness either, here or anywhere for that matter!

“Good Pub Food”

Good, solid pub food at a reasonable price and good atmosphere. Steak sandwich and smoked salmon salad - both very tasty.
