“A Lovely, Quiet Explore”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

Another fascinating landmark. This is a self guided tour through the house and gardens and is beautifully done. The rooms are wonderful and the history is well explained on the guide provided and on plaques throughout. A selection of artefacts is also on show and these were well worth a look.

“A gem of a site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013 via mobile

This is an excellent attraction that combines nice gardens (with ducks!), interesting recent history and tells an important part of Ireland's defining history (the failed confederacy) I only wish the fates of the family post Cromwell were better mapped out (I suspect maybe not as tragic but I'd like to know).

“Roaming Rothe House”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

It's all in the history. To roam around Rothe House is akin to being invited into a strangers home. You look around and form an opinion but it is just another home. However, if you take the time to read the history of the family who lived here then everything takes on a different and much more vibrant complexion. Take your time and the story will unfold for you.
The garden was a little under-whelming!

“definitely visit here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

Right in the middle of town, a quiet joy to visit. The 17th century house in interesting but the info and artifacts from earlier periods helped put a lot of Irish history in context. The gardens at the rear are also pleasant & a quiet place to sit (weather permitting!). The staff at the reception desk are a mine of info & will answer all kinds of questions on Irish history. Really enjoyed our visit.
