“A lovely place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

We stayed for one night in a comfortable room with great bed. All clean and sparkling. The owner was welcoming and friendly with helpful advice about our proposed itinerary. Location is just out of the city, and although there is a hotel nearby, we chose to drive in to the city to eat. It is a long walk and we didn't fancy walking back afterwards. A good Irish breakfast the next morning completed a lovely stay.

We stayed here for one night, the location is on the outskirts of the city, taxis needed for a night out but didn't worry us too much. The owner called a taxi for us which was great, very obliging. there was 3 of us, and they put us in a room with 2 bathrooms which was fantastic, the room was very spacious also, the next morning breakfast was gorgeous, very fresh and again the owner was more than helpful as one of my friends wasnt feeling up to getting up for breakfast, he brought it up to the room. All in all, was a very pleasant stay and I would highly reccommend you visit here when in kilkenny, very friendly, welcoming, great food, great service and very clean.

Nice location....easy walk to downtown.....pleasant atmosphere and quiet! Excellent traditional Irish breakfast and wonderful hosts. Nice, clean rooms and comfortable bed. And on-site parking. We recommend this as a wonderful bed and breakfast place to stay!

We spent a night there in the family room with our 2 kids. The beds were goods and comfortable. The room and bathroom were very clean. The breakfast was good with good quality products but only for the people who like savery things in the morning. the choice of sweet things was poor.
It was also a little noisy. the road and the insulation inside the house.
However, I have 1 big complaint... After reading the comments on trip advisor before booking, I thought we would be really welcome and amazed by the friendly owner of this B&B !!
The grandmother and owner of the B&B welcomed us in a cold way, showed us our room and left! She just broke one of her nail and was obviously upset !!!!!!
Later, we met her again before going out that evening and we asked her for some recomendations on restaurants, pubs etc... she said we should have a look at her suggestions in a plastic folder on the table..... We already had an idea but we were trying to be friendly etc....
In the morning, during the breakfast, we met the daughter who was pregnant and she was quite nice, educated and friendly. Our kids, 4 and 6 wanted some ketchup but i noticed that the ketchup on the all the tables was 6 month/1 year out of date. I kindly said it to the grandmother/owner and she answered in front of everybody "does that matter??" :-))
The daughter looked ashamed, the people in the breakfast room were shocked..... I hope the rest of the food was not out of date !!!!! i would go back there and would surely tried another B%B as there are everywhere.....

Pat Holden, the host at Auburndale, could not have been more friendly or hospitable. His B&B is very conveniently located. Her restaurant recommendations were on point. He went out of his way to help us find our next unit; offered the use of his phone when our roaming failed us; and made it one of our favorites. The house is on the main road and you could hear the traffic but it was quiet at night and did not disturb us. We would definitely return. If you go, thank Pat for his US military service.

I spent 2-weeks in Ireland, and this B&B was the easiest to find. Run by a former Navy Seabee, the place was clean and comfortable and just perfect in every way. Pat made us welcome from the opening handshake. He helped us navigate into and out of town and recommended places to visit. I found no drawbacks, but I would advise that all the rooms are upstairs, but that to me was never an issue.
