Longbowe Eco-friendly Holiday Home in Kilkenny May/June 2012
You always have an image in your mind of what your holiday accommodation might be like; in fact, it’s only natural to have great expectations to match the dreams of relaxation and comfort, in which to plan your exhibitions into the unknown territories of the deep mysterious Irish hideaways.
Longbowe not only delivers every aspect of your imaginative ideals; it exceeds beyond anything that could be written down in a review. This place has to be seen and lived in, to be believed…
The sweeping country lane, edged by beautiful horses on either side, Two farm cats and two very friendly dogs, welcomed us as we arrived. Having always loved older, more period type houses; we had opted for the more modern eco-friendly Longbowe. I wasn’t sure if Longbowe would deliver the warm welcome that older properties seem to have for me; but the immediate warmth of the inner building seemed to just wash over us with brilliant rays of dancing sunlight that lit the interior. Every room was bright and roomy, with doors leading outside into the intense greenery of majestic trees. It felt like we were living in a beautiful garden. We never felt cold or had to put the heating on. It was even strangely comforting at night! Being on the ground floor, with the outside elements and nightlife just beyond the full length curtains, never made me feel frightened; silly I know, but staying alone, Just myself (47 year old woman) and my mother, I usually don’t like sleeping alone at night, but we felt so relaxed, we slept soundly.
Fresh eggs for breakfast and lots of interesting suggestions from the very approachable owners Kevin & Joan, made life idyllic and the location of Longbowe was incredibly easy to navigate and we never got lost when out driving. We toured all around the South East Coastline and even drove along the Ring of Kerry on the South West coast!
Have no doubt, this place is a welcoming haven to anyone staying in Ireland and you won’t be disappointed.
Finding the place was incredibly easy. Just off the Bennettsbridge roundabout on the N10 N77 Kilkenny ring road, R700 Archersgrove.
Sarah & Annette: Would we stay at Longbowe again? …. Definitely, without a doubt!
