“The Grand Hotel Tralee is the Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2008

Dick Boyle and his staff went out of their way to make our stay at The Grand the most comfortable possible. The Restaurant had delightful and attentive service and good food and Guenuss. If you're looking for a very nice place to stay at a reasonable price while in Tralee, you can't go wrong at The Grand. Dick even went as far as to secure tee times for me and my mate at the Tralee Golf Club!
That was truly an awesome experience!

Thanks again Dick and your staff!

We walked into this Hotel after checking several others in the immediate vicinity. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. After checking the room, it was clearly obvious the accomodations were nicer, fresher and a much better choice than any of the other hotels in the vicinity. The beds were comfortable and firm, the bathrooms freshly updated and modern. Everything about the hotel was enjoyable. The bar/pub is outstanding, as was the food. Breakfast was great in the morning. Definitely recommend, especially for the price.

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights end August 2008.We had a first floor room, modern, well thought out and very very clean.Bags carried to our room for us (no lift) but staircase very genteel. We both have some walking problems but it was fine.
There is an excellent reading room on the first floor.
Nice old world architecture has been kept downstairs. The lobby is a delight.Coal fire, wingback chairs etc.The restaurant and Pikeman bar are a delight with great food (I mean that).
We really liked it and we are fussy. The place to stay in Tralee.

The staff are superb. This is a very well managed establishment popular with locals and tourists and that says it all.

when we arrived we drove around the back of the hotel looking for the car park, however there is only a lane which was quite full with cars, we double parked and left our car key with reception -they reparked our car later, we had no problem with this and we felt that the staff were very helpful, reception staff did point out they always state that limited parking only is available however the web site through which we booked claimed "public parking was possible on site" we were happy with our room which was comfortable and the bathroom had obviously been recently renovated, the hotels location is excellent being literally in the town centre, breakfast was lovely, the grand has a genuine old style glamour with great staff -all in all a lovely place to stay

I go to Tralee a lot but usually stay with family. We decided to book into the Grand for a night becuase of the great location and i had been into the pub and restaraunt part before. Here's the thing...for location it cant be beaten, very central. The rooms are spacious but not so modern. They are very 1970s. DO NOT EXPECT the radisson!!The bathroom was very nice and much more modern, must have been recently updated. They are a fine place to stay for the price but not as i say jurys/radisson style modern rooms. The bed linen and the dark wooden fixtures are old fashioned.Saying that we didnt expect a lot and had a lovely time. You can walk to all the nearby pubs and restaraunts!

Despite some of the reviews I chose the hotel as it was reasonably close to the railway station ( i was on a rail trip round Eire) and not too pricey.

After the walk ( 5 mins ish) I was pleasantly surprised to turn into the steet to find the Hotel was on a wide avanue of lovely old buildings. On entering the glow of the fire in reception was a welcome after the chill of the air outside. After discovering my room quite fun as it is lots of different routes it was very exceptable a mixture of classic old together with an modern bathroom. After a lovely night in Tralee a good nights sleep was had followed by an excellent Irish breakfast in the hotel.

If you turn left out of the hotel there is a lovely park which was once the grounds of the building where the hotel is now located there even was a flowering rose bush - the rose of tralee?

I was there on a Monday so Tralee was slumbering but was still enjoyable with music in the pub opposite from a memeber of Riverdance apparently.

  • Liked — olde world charm with a touch of modern
  • Disliked — no view from window , well it was at the back !

My husband and I decided to visit Kerry recently – from a weather point of view a bad idea but for value, unbeatable.

On visiting Tralee we asked people on the street for a recommendation on where to eat. The reply was the public bar at the Grand Hotel. In one short sentence this was the best place we came across on our travels, open fires, good food piping hot and excellent value for money.

During our meal we asked the ‘very busy waitress’ how much was it to stay for the night. She trotted off to the manageress who subsequently came over and quoted us a rate of €55pps in a superior room.

These rooms have obviously being refurbished to a 4 star standard. We slept in a superior king sized bed and enjoyed the ‘mod-cons’ on offer.

After enjoying a breakfast that was ‘fit for a king’ the following morning we were well equipped to face the wind swept but beautiful Ring of Kerry.

I’ll definitely be back in Tralee.
Happy UK Customer
PS Keep those ‘open fires’ burning.
