“Tired and noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014 via mobile

If you are looking for a bed attached to a good bar this place will do. Sadly no one has updated it for a good few years, we had four rooms between our group and all four had doors that came away from their frames, didn't lock and the bathrooms were in need of renovation. To top this off the rooms at the back of the hotel are over(in) a nightclub so if put here don't expect any sleep before 2.30. On the plus side The restaurant serves a wide range of food at a reasonable price, the breakfast is generous and the bar staff will bend over backwards to help you out.

Stayed in Tralee simply because it was closer to Galway than Dingle (where we spent most of that day). When folks in Kerry asked where we were staying, they were all extremely confused why anyone would want to stay in or visit Tralee. Going in with low expectations we were pleasantly surprised by this quaint small town.
Positives: Recently updated rooms, free street parking at night, walking distance to lots of pubs and restaurants.
Cons: Their main business is bar/restaurant. Rooms are all the way in the back up several flights of stairs (you can get lost easily). A little pricey and did not include breakfast.
Travelers note: Bring a GPS! Tralee is full of one way streets that seem to turn and dead end instantly. Hotel is located by the statue on Denny St (Google maps address is misleading)

I have just returned from having lunch at this hotel, accompanied by two friends. The restaurant and bar were full but the very attentive manager/?owner secured us a table for three. In spite of the waiting staff being very busy our order was taken within about 3 minutes of being seated and our food was served quickly afterwards.

Our meals were well cooked and tasty. The staff were efficient and courteous. This was great value for money and I would recommend it.

From the moment we entered the hotel it was made to feel like home! Bags brought to our room and the friendliest staff. We were there for 3 nights and the staff were so helpful recommending things to do. I was there on my own with my 2 daughters. Anything they could do for us they did!! Food was fantastic. Rooms were lovely and clean and freshened up each day.. We really enjoyed our stay, kids didn't want to go home and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Tralee. It was also so central to everything.. Absolutely fantastic!!!! 5 stars from me!

Room Tip: all the rooms looked lovely. they were warm and comfortable.

The grand hotel is a reasonably priced hotel in the centre of Tralee Co. Kerry. The room was very comfortable and the food was top notch. Breakfast was large and tasty. No complaints about the 3 day stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful with a great sense of humor. Highly recommended.
Restaurant served the perfect steak. A relaxing and friendly place to stay.

Room Tip: 1st floor room was very comfortable.

We booked 3 rooms for two nights, for a family holiday. Two rooms together , the other on the opposite side of the hotel. Ok meal, would not choose to eat here. Breakfast, no table set for six people. Found out accidentally there was a party on, the second night. Two rooms directly over party. Not due to finish until 1:30 am, again found out accidentally. With click going forward and having to be up for 7 am, only a few hours sleep allowed. Not offered room in quieter part of hotel. Receptionist looked apologetic but no alternatives offered. Not a relaxing way to spend a weekend. Double check when you book if there is a party. It's now 1 am and the party is still raging! Lots of shouting, room vibration and general noise! It's a 21st birthday, they should be allowed to party, but apparentlyother guests are not given the same courtesy! Suggest sound proofing for party rooms!!

We recently took a group of 23 15 year old boys on a rugby tour to Tralee, and stayed at the Grand hotel. They will never have such an experience again, superb hospitality , high quality hotel, great food and service. Unfortunately they are now spoiled because rugby tours are not so luxurious normally!!!

The adults who accompanies them were treated to a great atmosphere, super bar, and friendly nothing was too much service.

Cannot recommend this Hotel enough. Whilst we were there there were a various families, individuals and couples staying there, the bar was always busy with hotel guests and local people, music and entertainment was great. thanks
