“Brilliant hotel - don't miss the spa!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

My friend and I stayed at the Brehon on a Tuesday in September 2013. Although 'off season' it was still booked out and had a great atmosphere. Upon arrival, we were upgraded from a standard twin room to a family suite! It had a king bed, two twin beds, and two flatscreen TVs. What a nice surprise! We booked the Escape and Unwind spa package - WOW! The therapists are top-notch and you will never have a Thai Deep Tissue massage like it. As our spa treatment was late afternoon, the spa offered to bring our package lunch to the room. We each had sirloin steak and it was delicous. For €135 B&B, and €90 each for the spa package which included time in the suites, a 60-min treatment and lunch - we both agreed that value for money was excellent. Service from start to finish was hospitable. The breakfast was buffet and I prefer a 'breakfast menu' - this was the only area for improvement.

Room Tip: Family suite was spacious and could comfortably sleep 5!

We came here on our honeymoon and it was excellent. Friendly staff, luxurious and spacious rooms.
Restaurant was beautiful but on the expensive side. Food was delicious.
The spa and pool were better than expected a real relaxing experience.
The breakfast was huge had to stop yourself trying everything every morning.
In all I can't complain about our stay.

We stayed in the Brehon Inn on the nights of September 10th and 11th as a part of a tour. We were very impressed. Overall, this was the nicest hotel we stayed in (Definitely 4 star level). The rooms and the common area were well appointed and the staff was pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean. The hotel was a little distance (A kilometer or so) from the town center This was good or bad depending on ones preference. Its location was quiet and peaceful, but shoppers had a long walk or needed a cab to get to shopping and restaurants. Our only criticism was that the hotel does not offer wash cloths. The tour included an Irish Breakfast Buffet and dinner each night in the hotels restaurant. The food was good, but the service can stand some improvement. There were some odd things, such as they picked up all the bread before putting the entree out. Some folks were looking to have bread with their entree. Also, at one point I had two dirty dishes in front of me. The server took one and left the other.

Attended a wedding here and stayed for two nights, it was a great experience. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived. The food and service at the wedding were second to none. The room was great and it had everything we needed, we found it to be really comfortable and clean. The spa is really good, the pool is nice but a little small - however guests can avail of the facilities in the nearby Gleneagle hotel if they so wish (the pool is huge there).

The black-out blinds in our room were superb, we genuinely had no idea what time of the day we had! Ten out of ten for sleep quality.

On the negative side, the breakfast staff are over-eager! They nearly try to grab your plate from you before you are finished. Also some of the decor is becoming a little dated and worn, but that didn't bother us. In my opinion the hotel may not be the best for children, certainly the leisure facilities are more adult-orientated. The hotel is located one mile outside the centre of town, some may view this as a negative especially when you consider that Killarney isn't renowned for its efficient taxi service. Taxis are few and far between on Friday and Saturday nights. It cost us €10 for a taxi ride by the way. A little expensive for a one mile trip!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing south or west to get views of the spectacular landscape. If you look east the...

I have no idea why the Brehon is not a 5 star as it is so luxurious.. We stayed at the Brehon in May for my wifes birthday and my daughters 1st birthday. I had mentioned it while booking and on arrival to our room we had 2 birthday cards waiting for us along with a selection of mini desserts.. They also gave us a corner room which seemed very big and spacious and was great for the little one to crawl around. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and always asked was everything ok whenever they saw us. My daughter is allergic to dairy and the chef made us her own batch of mash potatoes without milk or butter and kept them separate from the other food so we could have whenever we needed.. They really went above and beyond for our stay and made us feel so welcome. I had literally looked into every hotel in Killarney before we booked and am glad we went for the Brehon. We will definitely return.

my husband and i have been going to killarney for a number of years and this is the first time we have stayed at the brehon hotel and it definitely wont be the last.this hotel is outstanding from the amazing lobby with great comfortable seating to the beautiful spacious bedrooms this really is a hotel where no expense has been spared on making guests feel at home.the bedrooms are well laid out with decent sized bathrooms and are spotless.housekeeping standards are very high throughout the hotel.breakfast every morning was buffet style with plenty of variety.the staff were friendly and obliging but not intruisive.you were left to relax and read your book or paper in the lobby area without anyone interupting you.this is one hotel we will definitely return to.

Frightening & Disrespectful Experience
We are 2 middle-aged ladies.
We stayed for 2 nights
Food and accommodation was very good.
On the morning of the day we were leaving we awoke to find a Big Bat the size of a crow flying around our heads.
We left the room in our nightwear in a distressed state to raise the attention of staff.
Housekeeping entered our room and said there was nothing there, they implied that we imagined the bat.
We were very upset and were not comfortable to stay in the room after seeing the bat.
We had to pack our things nervously and leave without a shower or washing our teeth and no help from any of the staff.
When we went to check out we got a similar level of disrespect from the reception staff who also pretended nothing happened.
It was a total disgrace the way we were treated by the staff in this hotel.
A 4 star hotel with 1 star staff.
They were horrible.
